Lead by example...
Think about the most influential people in your life. What made them so impactful? Chances are, it wasn't just their grand gestures, but the way they lived their daily lives—the promises they kept, the way they spoke to others, and the quiet consistency of their character. This week, we're diving into the simple but profound truth that leadership starts with you, and it's built on the foundation of your words and your actions.

Softball from Tuesday
Aurora came out on top against Blue River on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Huskies' pitcher stepped up to hand Blue River an 8-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
Not much got past Josie Fink, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Blue River off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emely Gonzelez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Kottwitz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Aurora hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.Aurora now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Blue River, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Looking ahead, Aurora is taking a road trip to square off against Lakeview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blue River, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against York at 4:00 p.m. Blue River's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dukes have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
Game #1 on Thursday
Came up short!
Game #2 on Thursday
Polk County extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-16. They fell 10-5 to Blue River. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Polk County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrienne Waller, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
As for Blue River, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
On Blue River's side, the team relied heavily on Emelia Hoeppner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Hoeppner has posted since back in August. Olivia Adams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Looking ahead, Polk County will take on Gering at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Blue River, they will face off against Centennial at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Message for the Week:
Message from Mr. Tejkl
Action needed...
Good morning!
I hope you are having a great weekend and have a wonderful Sunday ahead of you! The 1st quarter will be closing in THREE short weeks (October 17th). Continue to be open, communicate with each other, and continue to support those around you with positive things you see. What get what you look for!
The proverb is simple and relatable: You can talk about cooking rice all day long. You can discuss the best type of rice, the perfect amount of water, and the ideal cooking time. You can even draw out a detailed plan. But until you actually put the rice in the pot, add water, and apply heat, you will have no cooked rice.
In all reality, it means:
Action produces results. Words alone are empty.
The plan is just the beginning. Execution is the game.
Don't mistake motion for action. Talking, planning, and theorizing are not the same as doing.
In any organization, especially here at SRC, the collective power of individual actions is what truly creates change. While we often look to those at the top for leadership, the reality is that every single person—from the office staff and custodians to the teachers, principals, and even students—has a role to play in shaping the school's culture and success. The old Chinese proverb, "Talk doesn't cook rice," is a reminder that our intentions and words are only the first step; it’s our consistent follow-through that ultimately produces results. When each of us takes responsibility for taking ownership of our words with our actions, we build a foundation of trust and accountability that lifts everyone.
This proverb applies directly to our daily roles. A teacher/administrator who consistently follows through on a promise to a student, a staff member who models kindness and respect in their daily interactions, or a coach who demonstrates sportsmanship on and off the field—these are all acts of leadership. When every member of our community, regardless of their title, understands that their personal example is what matters most, we move beyond just talking about our values and begin living them. It’s this shared commitment to action that transforms our good intentions into a truly supportive and high-performing learning environment for all. Remember our pillars: Accountability, Innovation, Integrity, & Service!
Have a great rest of your Sunday!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
"Talk doesn't cook rice.
Chinese Proverb
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl
