Trussville City Schools Foundation Delivers MUSH Grants
The Trussville City Schools Foundation, with a little help from Santa, delivered $62,200.79 in MUSH grants on Wednesday to support innovative teacher ideas and school-based projects across all five Trussville schools. These grants directly enhance classroom learning, spark creativity, and strengthen opportunities for students districtwide. We are grateful for our educators and thrilled to reinvest in their inspiring work!
Holly Jolly Hallways at Paine Elementary
Holly Jolly Hallways was a successful event at Paine Elementary, welcoming families into the school to enjoy the festive learning environment created by teachers and room parents. The beautifully decorated hallways reflected the pride, creativity, and care that make Paine Elementary a warm and joyful place to learn.
Congratulations to all of our Cahaba School Spelling Bee participants for their hard work and brave voices that made today unforgettable. We are proud to celebrate our winners: first place, Elliot Gyan; second place, Bennett Dawkins; and third place, Luna Tyler. We are so proud of each of you and the way you represented our school!
Mrs. McCaull's English Classes Reflect on Importance of Dickens' Classic
Mrs. McCaull’s classes at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School recently wrapped up their study of A Christmas Carol with a meaningful “toasting party” inspired by Victorian England. Students selected powerful quotes from the novel and shared thoughtful toasts highlighting Scrooge’s transformation, key themes, and the story’s enduring message of kindness and compassion.
The event served as both a celebration and an academic showcase, as students practiced close reading, reflection, and speaking and listening skills. A special thank you to the families who contributed Victorian-inspired treats, helping make the experience festive and memorable. It was a wonderful way to conclude the unit and celebrate student learning during the season.

Cahaba’s annual Tinsel Trail on Sunday, December 7th, brought a touch of Nutcracker magic to our campus. SHINE welcomed guests with Christmas carols, and the Art program hosted a student showcase where families could view and purchase artwork. The PTO added to the festive atmosphere with a vendor market, silent auction, and classroom Christmas trees displayed on the front lawn. Families also enjoyed photos with Santa and plenty of holiday cheer.
The evening ended with an exciting tree lighting followed by a fun snowfall party on the front porch, creating a scene straight from the Land of Sweets. The Tinsel Trail will remain lit throughout the Christmas season, and we invite the community to stop by and enjoy the sparkle and spirit of this special tradition.

TCS Mental Health Corner
Grief looks different for everyone, but the holidays can often make it harder especially if it's your first season without someone you love. Holiday season mark the passage of time, and can be a stark reminder that life goes on without your loved one here. It can also be hard to celebrate togetherness when someone is missed. Whether you are supporting someone who is grieving or carrying your own grief, I hope you find something here that makes the journey a little easier through the holidays.
Set realistic expectations for yourself - Remind yourself that this year is different and decide what responsibilities you can handle, accept others offers to cook, shop or decorate. Allow others to care for you.
Surround yourself with people who love and support you - Share your plans with family and friends and let them know of changes in the holiday routine. Memories can be a source of comfort to the bereaved, so share them by telling stories.
Create a new tradition or ritual that accommodates your current situation - Some people find comfort by honoring traditions, while others find them unbearably painful. Discuss with your family the activities you want to include or exclude this year.
Draw comfort from doing for others - Consider giving a donation or gift in memory of a loved one. Invite a guest who might otherwise be alone for the holidays.
If you are struggling with the loss of a loved one or need additional support this holiday season, please reach out to your student's school counselor or Beth Cardwell, TCS Student Support Specialist at (205) 228-3036.
