From the Senior Leadership Team – Term 1, Week 9
Good afternoon
As Term 1 draws to a close, the SLT would like to thank all parents, caregivers, and volunteers for their help and support throughout the EOTC programme held during the term. We have enjoyed two full and fun-filled days at Vector Wero and Tree Adventures, where our learners have taken risks and tried new experiences. None of this would have been possible without parents getting involved, volunteering their time, or ensuring that children arrived at school early on these days.
Along with the EOTC Days, this term also included our Market Days, which were an incredible experience for our tamariki. The level of creativity and thought that went into the designs and creation of products for sale was outstanding. Once again, there was strong parent support for this, and your help ensured that Market Day was a success!
A reminder that our Parent and Teacher Meetings are in the first week of Term 2. You can book your slot using the information below. These days are a great way to set goals and better understand your child’s learning at school. It is not compulsory for your child to attend, and if you wish to discuss things more openly, this is a good time to do so. Our Specialist classrooms will be open until 7:00 PM so please visit these classrooms before or after your interview times.
Term 2 will be busy, and we begin with a change to our Unit of Inquiry: Who We Are. This unit focuses on puberty and the changes our learners experience during this time. This includes both physical and emotional changes, and how they can influence the emerging adolescent at school and at home. To start our unit, we will have the organisation Attitude speak to our learners at assembly.
Ngā mihi

SCHOOL NEWS AND INFORMATION
Our Kids Online
We recently had Rob Cope from Our Kids Online at TNIS. This was an incredibly powerful evening and everyone who atteneded walked away a little wiser and more understanding about the dangers of social media for our kids. This weeks video on whether you should give your kid a phone is great watching.
ICAS 2026
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills. TNIS will host 3 subjects in 2026: English, Mathematics and Science.
ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.
Learn more about ICAS here: (icasassessments.com/products-icas/).
The Assessments Calendar with dates of purchase and the windows in which the text is sat can be found HERE.
These are purchased by parents directly through THIS LINK. If asked for our school PPS code it is: IEH393
