Mr. Hilton's Highlights
Another Great Week at Cool Creek
Hello all!
Our first full week at Cool Creek was a great week! Our students had Picture Day, continued making connections with new friends, got to spend time on the playground, and the turf is on its way. The kids continue to do an outstanding job in the classrooms, cafeteria, hallways, and on the playground. They amaze me every day!
Around the playground, we currently have a fence in place, and I have been told construction of the 20-foot noise barrier along U.S. 31 will begin in October. We will also have a 6-foot fence installed to the west of the bus lot that will enclose the bus parking area. This is important because the basketball goals are located in this area, and I want to make sure the space is secure before students begin playing there. I do not want students using the basketball area until the fence is complete. This week, they secured all of the fence posts in concrete, and today they plan to begin laying out and stretching the fencing. I am hopeful that we will have access to the basketball goals sometime next week.
On Thursday, September 3, we will be holding our Meet the Teacher Night for grades 1-5. Kindergarten held its Meet the Teacher Night before our Open House on August 12. Teachers will be in their classrooms and will give the same presentation at 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. You only need to attend one session. We are offering two times to make it easier for families who have more than one child in grades 1-5. Meet the Teacher Night is for parents only. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about your child’s classroom, routines, expectations, and the year ahead.
On Friday, September 18, the PTO is sponsoring our annual Rock-A-Thon (Fun Run). This is our largest PTO fundraiser and all money raised will go back to support student activities and experiences. We will be sending more information out in the next couple of weeks (including the day's schedule), but wanted to give you the date so you could make arrangements if you would like to join us.
If your child will be absent for any reason, arriving late due to an appointment, or leaving early, please let the school know by emailing ccesattendance@wws.k12.in.us or leaving a voicemail on the attendance line at 317-867-6500. After selecting your language, choose extension #1 for attendance. If you need to make a change to your child’s dismissal plans after the school day has started, please call the office or send a TalkingPoints message to Cool Creek Admin by 1:30 p.m. the day of the dismissal change.
It is always helpful to let your child’s teacher know about an absence or dismissal change, but please make sure the office is notified as well. Teachers do not have the opportunity to regularly check their email or TalkingPoints throughout the school day, so we want to make sure the office has the information needed to get your child where they need to be. Thank you for helping us keep attendance and dismissal information accurate and ensuring a smooth and safe end to the school day.
Have a great weekend,
Andy
Make Your Voice Heard — Register to Vote
Voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our community and our democracy. As a school district, we believe in preparing students to be engaged, informed citizens, and we encourage every eligible member of our community to exercise that same civic responsibility.
The deadline to register to vote in Indiana for the November 3 General Election is October 5, 2026.
Whether you need to register, update your registration, or simply check your voter registration status, visit IndianaVoters.in.gov.
Be informed. Be engaged. Make your voice heard.

Weekend Food Support: Back Sacks Program
Hi Cool Creek Families!
We are happy to announce that we will be offering food support for families who can benefit from this assistance with the Back Sacks Program! Through this program, our goal is to help feed our kiddos on the weekends when school breakfast and lunch is not available. We are so thankful to Open Doors of Westfield for helping make this happen.
At the end of each week, your child will receive a small sack of food in his or her backpack. The sack will have two small breakfast meals, two small lunch meals, as well as a couple of snacks and drinks. All foods are shelf-stable, which means they do not need to be refrigerated. Examples of items are cereal, granola bars, macaroni and cheese, SpaghettiOs, dried fruit and crackers.
The food is collected and distributed by Open Doors. If you have a concern about allergies or the quality of a product, please remove the item from the sack and contact me. We will do everything we can to assist you.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in the Back Sacks program, please fill out this GOOGLE FORM. If your child(ren) participated at their elementary school last year, I have already added them to our list! If you do NOT want your child(ren) to participate this year again, please let me know.
We look forward to having your child participate in the program! If you have any questions or choose to no longer participate, please contact me at 317-867-6500 ext. 13006 or Sargentj@wws.k12.in.us
Thank you,
Jennifer Sargent, CCES Counselor

If you think you may want to volunteer, help with a classroom party, join your child for lunch, or chaperone a field trip this year, now is a great time to complete your background check.
Westfield Washington Schools uses SafeVisitor for visitor management and background checks. Because the approval process can take 3–6 business days, completing your background check now will help ensure you're ready when an opportunity comes up. The $12.95 background check is valid for four years and can be used at any WWS school.
Don't wait until the field trip permission slip comes home—check this one off your back-to-school list now!
Protect the Tech
Chromebook Protection Plan
Families of students in grades 3–12 can purchase optional Chromebook protection through K12 Tech for $23 per student. While the plan is not required, it is highly recommended since Chromebook repairs can be costly.
The plan covers accidental damage throughout the school year with no deductible and includes multiple damage incidents.
Please note: Students in Kindergarten–2nd grade do not need to purchase the protection plan.

Families must submit a new application each school year, and families are responsible for meal charges incurred before an application is approved.
Families who qualify through SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, or Foster Care do not need to complete the online application. If you received an approval letter but have additional students in your household who were not listed, please contact the district to have them added.
