"Encourage one another and build each other up ..."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Second trimester report cards are in the Friday Folder today. I'm really proud of the hard work this class has put in this year, and am looking forward to helping them grow much more in their last trimester before middle school! Please sign and return the report card envelope; you can keep the report card at home.
In Reading this week, we reread the historical fiction excerpt from the book called, Bud, Not Buddy. In Math, we finished up our topic on data and line plots. This topic revisited our knowledge of multiplying and adding fractions. Today, we began a new short topic: Volume. We will finish up this topic next week, and test the following week. In Science, we created mini atmospheres, testing out if we could determine how to make it rain. We found that areas with warm oceans and cold skies create the most rain. In Social Studies, we studied the Articles of Confederation, and looked at the creation of the Constitution. We took the Preamble, and used it to identify values we hold in our classroom, before creating our own Preamble. We also started studying for States and Capitals. Online resources to help with studying are posted on Google Classroom. In Religion, we continue to study parables, looking for the lessons taught within each one.
I will not be at school on April 1st and 2nd. The Holy Thursday Prayer Service is taking place on Thursday, April 2. Since I will be out, and we have a mass the week before that we are planning, Miss Lee will be taking over the Holy Thursday Prayer Service. Fifth grade will NOT be leading this prayer service, but we will be leading the mass on Wednesday, March 25 instead.
Book Fair
The Book Fair is coming! Fifth grade is scheduled to visit on Wednesday, March 25. For more information, and to set up an e-wallet for your student, please visit this site.
Santa Cruz Fundraising Update
As the weather warms up, we have the opportunity to sell popsicles on Fridays for our Santa Cruz Island trip again. We have currently raised $959 out of the total trip cost of $1,716. At this moment, we have two options: 1. Continue to sell popsicles to bring down the cost of the trip (volunteers needed to donate!) or 2. Split the remaining cost between families. Please let me know if you are willing to donate popsicles for our sales, and we can continue for as long as I have volunteers, then we will split the remaining cost. Thank you!
