This team-based event featured five players from each school competing against the top five players from opposing teams in every round. GLOBE faced a tough start, losing the first round 0–5. Despite the early setback, Coach Thomas encouraged the team to stay focused, noting they had likely faced one of the strongest teams in the state.

The team responded with determination, winning their next three rounds and finishing with a 3–2 record. Their resilience and teamwork secured them the 6th-place team trophy.

Team members included Preet Patel, Leo Jordan, Connor Asay, Dean Samali, Mason Hatfield, Jackson Timberlake, and Kyan Grant and their Coach is Thomas Harris. Every player contributed to the team’s success, demonstrating strong effort and sportsmanship throughout the tournament and we are very proud of their hard work. The future looks bright for the chess program at GLOBE!

LC Family Literacy Night - Thursday, May 14, 2026, 5:30pm–7pm

Get everyone in their pajamas and join us for a special evening celebrating the stories, languages, and voices that make our community extraordinary! We are thrilled to announce that acclaimed children’s poet, actor, and author Charles Waters will be joining us for this special event. If you’d like to order a copy of Charles’s books for him to sign that evening, please complete this form. After Charles’s presentation, families will eat dinner provided by GLOBE's PTCC and participate in hands-on activity stations where we’ll create books, share songs and rhymes from home, and celebrate language and literacy! RSVP here by Friday, May 8. If you’d like to volunteer (preparing materials prior to the event and/or helping during the event), please send an email to Sabrina Manns.

Lower Campus Clinic

Please send an entire change of clothes with your child to school. It is warm, and often kids get muddy while playing outside. Please understand that if the Clinic does not have clothes that fit your child, you will receive a call either to pick-up or provide clean clothes.

Please speak with your students about NOT sharing hair bands, bits, bobs, bobbles, etc. with each other. Lice cases are on the rise in metro Atlanta due to the season change. If you have a confirmed case of lice, please let Nurse Kate know. Lice policy can be found in the Student and Family Handbook, on page 17. Students must be treated effectively before returning to school.

As the school year winds down, please make arrangements for pickup of medications in the clinic. We are unable to store medications over the summer. Please email Nurse Kate at Kate.Ellington@TheGlobeAcademy.net to arrange for pickup or to send home.

LC Library End-of-Year Reminder

The final day for student book checkout will be Thursday, April 30. As we begin preparing for end‑of‑year inventory, we ask that all library books be returned by Friday, May 22. Please reach out to Ms. Stowe with any questions.
