3rd Graders to The Artis
Vineyards Elementary third grade students recently enjoyed an enriching field trip that combined the worlds of music and visual art. Students attended the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of Penelope’s Odyssey of the Orchestra, where the musicians used the unique sounds of different instruments to tell the story of Penelope, a young girl who navigates the challenges of being teased by a classmate. The experience helped students understand how music can communicate emotions, characters, and important life lessons. During their visit, students also toured The Baker Museum and explored Fugue in 3 Voices, an exhibition by artist Linling Lu. Inspired by music, Lu’s vibrant works feature multi-colored concentric circles that visually interpret rhythm, harmony, and movement, giving students a unique opportunity to experience the connection between music and art.
