Message from the Chief of Schools Message from the Chief of Schools

Dear Plato Academy Staff and Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and thriving. As we reflect on the past two decades, it brings me immense joy to share the remarkable journey of Plato Academy and the incredible success we have achieved together in providing high-quality education. We are looking forward to our upcoming 20 Year Anniversary Gala on March 2, 2024 where we will celebrate the timeline of Plato Academy Charter Schools and its remarkable journey providing a K-8 education to students through good times, hard times and all the transitions throughout the years. We celebrate how the Plato Academy team has risen above all tribulations to be able to commemorate this momentous milestone.

Twenty years ago, Mr. Steve Christopoulos and Plato Academy embarked on a mission to offer an educational experience that goes beyond the conventional. Today, I am proud to say that we have not only met but exceeded those aspirations and those who have weathered this twenty year journey will continue the crusade of continuous improvement. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in every facet of our schools from our students and families to our staff and teachers and the administrators who run our K-8 academic programming and sports. We can only build upon the programming that has led to our twenty year success.

Advanced Curriculum

Our dedication to academic excellence is evident in our advanced curriculum. We have consistently strived to provide a learning environment that challenges and inspires our students. Through innovative teaching methods and cutting-edge educational resources and technology, we aim to nurture the intellectual curiosity of our students and prepare them for the challenges of the future.

Gifted Education Services

Recognizing the unique abilities of each child, Plato Academy has implemented outstanding gifted education services. Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of gifted learners, fostering an environment where their talents can flourish. We believe in unlocking the full potential of every student, and our gifted education services are a testament to that commitment.

Accelerated Math

Mathematics is a cornerstone of a well-rounded education, and at Plato Academy, we take pride in our accelerated math programs. Our students not only excel in foundational math concepts but also delve into advanced topics, preparing them for success in higher education and beyond.

Greek Language and Culture

Embracing our rich cultural heritage, Plato Academy offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the study of Greek language and culture. Through language courses, cultural events, and interactive experiences, we aim to instill a deep appreciation for the beauty and diversity of Greek traditions.

Music, Art, Sports, and Intervention Services

Recognizing the importance of a holistic education, Plato Academy places a strong emphasis on music, art, sports, and intervention services. Our intervention programs provide targeted support for students who may be facing academic challenges. Our Sports programs offer a variety of sports teams options for our students.

High School Credit

Due to our advanced curriculum, we are able to offer high school credit options for our middle school students, providing advanced coursework that allows our high school students to earn credits towards their future academic endeavors prior to entering high school.

Positive School Climate

Creating a positive and inclusive school climate is fundamental to our philosophy. Our commitment to fostering a supportive community ensures that every student feels valued and respected. We believe that a positive school environment is essential for both academic success and personal growth.

As we celebrate these achievements, it is crucial to acknowledge the collaborative effort of our dedicated educators, staff, students, and, of course, our supportive families. Together, we have created a thriving community that cherishes education, diversity, and the pursuit of excellence.

Looking ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing an exceptional education for generations to come. The success of Plato Academy is a shared success, and I am excited about the continued journey of growth, innovation, and learning that lies ahead.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Plato Academy family. Here's to the past 20 years of excellence! We are looking forward to many more years of shaping bright futures together!

With appreciation,

Amy Hayes

Plato Academy Schools Character Education Program Plato Academy Schools Character Education Program

Character education is a program aimed at cultivating positive character qualities in students. The primary objective is to establish a school culture that is immersed in attributes like respect, responsibility, honesty, and self-motivation. This emphasis on character traits is intended to enhance student achievement and create a secure learning environment.

In the Commitment to Character program, a fixed curriculum is not used. Instead, a range of strategies is offered to be seamlessly integrated into the regular curriculum. This approach is marked by a deliberate and conscious emphasis on character education. The program employs various methods including a shared vocabulary (common language such as using the same character traits), seizing spontaneous teaching moments (teachable moments), engaging in community service activities (service learning), and setting examples through behavior (modeling). These strategies are applied across all subjects, ensuring that character education is woven into every facet of the curriculum.

Empowering Future Leaders - Plato Academy Schools Alumni Engagement Program Empowering Future Leaders - Plato Academy Schools Alumni Engagement Program

We are delighted to share the success of a cherished annual tradition at Plato Academy Clearwater—the "Alumni Engagement Program" organized by Kyrios Kostas. This initiative brings former students back to their alma mater to share their high school experiences with current 7th and 8th graders during Greek classes.

The primary goal of this program is to provide valuable insights to current students about life in high school and how their experiences at Plato Academy have prepared them for the challenges ahead. Each year, alumni graciously present their personal journeys, emphasizing the importance of adhering to current requirements and academic expectations.

This event proves to be an invaluable resource for upcoming graduates, helping them understand and meet the expectations awaiting them in high school. It fosters a sense of community and shared learning, creating a bridge between past and present students.

We extend heartfelt kudos to the students who took the stage to share their experiences and insights. Their articulate presentations not only benefited their peers but also showcased their growth and development since leaving Plato Academy. We commend their commitment to giving back to the school community.

Additionally, we express our sincere appreciation to Kyrios Kostas for spearheading this program. His dedication to creating a supportive environment for both current and former students is commendable. The "Alumni Engagement Program" stands as a testament to his efforts in fostering a holistic educational experience at Plato Academy Clearwater.

Exploring Saint Augustine - Plato Academy Largo's 6th Graders Uncover History Exploring Saint Augustine - Plato Academy Largo's 6th Graders Uncover History

On a rainy Friday, January 12th, the 6th-grade students of Plato Academy Largo embarked on a captivating journey to Saint Augustine, the historic first city of America. Guided by their enthusiastic Social Studies Teacher, Miss Danielle Kendrick, along with the Greek Teacher, Mr. Yanni Giavaras, and three dedicated parents, the students delved into the rich history of this iconic destination.

Their adventure began at the Spanish Fort, where a knowledgeable tour guide awaited them. Walking among the colossal walls, the students absorbed fascinating details about the first colonials—both Spanish and British settlers — in Florida. The experience was nothing short of amazing as they immersed themselves in the historical significance of the fort.

Next on their itinerary was a visit to Saint Fotios Greek Orthodox Shrine, offering insights into the lives of the first Greek immigrants who arrived in Florida over three hundred years ago. The students gained a deeper understanding of the cultural contributions of the Greek community to the region.

The day concluded with a delightful visit to the Greek restaurant Athina, where everyone relished delicious Greek cuisine, adding a flavorful touch to their educational journey.

Computer Accidents? Get Coverage Today & Peace of Mind for the School Year! Computer Accidents? Get Coverage Today & Peace of Mind for the School Year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide the best resources and curriculum for your child's educational environment, we are requiring an annual Technology Fee.

In today's digital age, technology plays an integral role in education, enabling your child to explore, create, and learn in innovative ways. To ensure that this learning experience remains uninterrupted, we are implementing a nominal fee of $25 per student to cover potential damages to the school-issued laptops. This fee will be used exclusively for repairing or replacing damaged hardware, guaranteeing that your child's education continues seamlessly.

This fee ensures seamless replacement of damaged laptops to our students when devices need repair from wear and tear (keys falling off or mousepad not working) or accidental damage (closing screen on pencils, dropping) to the device. Until now, parents were asked to cover the costs of these damages as they occurred.

Parents who do not submit their Technology Fee will be responsible for covering the potentially much higher costs of hardware repair replacement in the event of damage. We strongly recommend opting for this coverage to avoid any undue financial strain in case of accidental damage to the laptop.

To enroll in the program, please fill out the following payment form and submit the $25 (non refundable) for the current school year. Your proactive participation will contribute to a worry-free and productive learning experience for your child.

We appreciate your continued support in creating a nurturing educational environment for our students. Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to reach out to your campus administration.

Thank you for entrusting Plato Academy Schools with your child's education.

Hermes & the Tales of Zephyrus

"...Hermes is the namesake of Hermes the Trismegistus, as the ancient Greeks called the Egyptian god Thoth, who was the inspirer of the arts and sciences, but also a writer.

Until about five years ago, he too lived among an anonymous crowd. But by a quirk of fate, or a fateful choice, or a fateful end because of by fate or fateful coincidence, he suddenly found himself in the disputed mythical world and he took up the duties of a steward in Aeolia and specifically in the palace of Zephyros who is the west wind and mediator between Hades and humans........"
