Counselor's Corner
Well, our scholars have been doing quite well for the first few weeks of school; however, we need them to be able to do their BEST! Their best can't be achieved without a little assistance from our parents and guardians. Don't forget to help them do their very best by making sure that they get their rest by going to bed at an appropriate time, eating healthier meals and snacks, spending extra time studying, and arriving to school on time and prepared. All of these things, as well as a few words of encouragement each morning, will help our scholars to always do their very best! GO PATRIOTS!!
This week, our students will focus on Sense of Belonging and the importance of having strong support systems at school and at home. Students will also begin the Student Success Skills Pre-Inventory, which helps us better understand their social-emotional strengths and areas for growth. This is not a grade or test, but a tool that helps our school support students as they build confidence, connections, and the skills needed for continued success throughout the year.

September is Attendance Awareness Month and the Counseling Dept. and the Attendance Team would like to remind you the importance of having an exemplary attendance record. Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school, college, and beyond. Look out for more information on how your scholar can share in celebrating with us as we strive for a month of attendance excellence.
Clicking here will take you to my webpage, which provides information about the counseling services at Liberty Point Elementary, as well as some resources you can use at home. Please check the webpage often as it is updated periodically to include new resources and information gathered throughout the school year.
If you would like to contact me, please feel free to send an email or call me directly at (470)254-9657.
