Primary Education Center Newsletter

The first day of school is a much anticipated day for families. Just a few notes from Principal Larson
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders:
We want to remind families that parent drop off begins at 8:40 am in front of the PEC main entrance. Please wait for a staff member to give a ready signal before your child exits your vehicle. For safety purposes we will ask that you never pass a vehicle in the drop-off line. If you are picking your child up, please adhere to the pick-up schedule sent home to you in your placement packet. A pick-up car tag and proper photo identification must be displayed in your window until your child is safely in your vehicle.
2024-2025 Family Handbook - Parent Transport
There will be three pickup times per building.
3:15 - PEC Release 2nd Grade
3:25 - PEC Release Kindergarten & Mrs. Lesniak’s class
3:30 - PEC Release 1st Grade
We encourage all families to use our bus transportation to alleviate long delays in our pick-up lane and to prevent Creek Road congestion. For students riding the bus to school, please be visible at your bus stop at least five minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up time. Transportation times will take some adjustment the first week of school. Staff members will be all around the bus loop welcoming your child safely back to school. This year, High School Seniors will be escorting our kindergartners to class on their first day.
Thank you for your cooperation. It is going to be a wonderful year of learning and friendship for all of our students. The PEC is a school where "Everyone Belongs".
Warmest regards,
Mrs. Larson
Primary Education Center Principal

PARENT NIGHT AT THE PRIMARY EDUCATION CENTER
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2024
Dear Parent/Guardian:
You are cordially invited to our annual Parent Night on Thursday, September 19, 2024
for grades K-2. Please enter and exit through the PEC Main Entrance. Mrs. Larson will also
be available throughout the evening if you have any questions. Mrs. Larson may also be
reached at tlarson@lew-port.com. The PTSA will be selling spirit-wear in our main foyer.
What will be discussed at the Parent Night?
This program will be a general informational meeting and is a wonderful opportunity for you to
build positive school and family connections. Each teacher will describe their teaching and
learning environment. They will also talk about what a typical day is like for your child in
school, including schedules, on-line resources, special field trips and projects. Teachers will
explain how you as a parent can become more involved in your child’s education.
You will have an opportunity to meet with support teachers (reading and math interventionists,
speech, occupational therapy, ENL teacher, social worker and the school psychologist);
consultant teachers, as well as the special-area teachers (physical education, library media,
STEAM, vocal music and art). These teachers play an integral part in your child’s development
and it would be beneficial to meet with them to learn about your child’s program. Please
refer to the schedule on the back of this letter for your child’s grade-level meetings.
*Please note:
Private parent/teacher conferences will be held on Friday, December 13th, at which
time it is appropriate to ask any questions you wish concerning your child’s educational needs
and progress in a confidential setting. You may also request a meeting at any time to discuss
your child’s educational goals and progress.
We look forward to partnering with you for a successful school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Larson, Principal
