Elementary Family Newsletter: 11/7/25

Hello Elementary Families! Hello Elementary Families!

As the crisp autumn days turn into colder November weather, we want to remind everyone to dress appropriately for the season. Students will continue to spend time outdoors for recess, physical education, and classroom activities, so it’s important that they come to school prepared to stay warm.

Tips for Dressing for Cold Weather:

  • Layer up: Sweaters, hoodies, and long-sleeve shirts under coats help keep children warm.

  • Hats and gloves: A warm hat and gloves or mittens protect hands and heads from chilly winds.

  • Warm footwear: Boots and cozy socks help keep feet dry and warm, especially on wet or snowy days.

Reminders:

  • Please label all coats, boots, hats, and gloves with your child’s name. Thank you for helping your child stay comfortable and healthy this season.

We’re in Need of Clothes!

As the weather turns colder, we’re reaching out to our school community for donations to help keep our students warm and comfortable this winter. Our supply of extra clothing is running low, and we’d greatly appreciate your support.

We are currently in need of:

  • New girls’ underwear

  • New boys’ boxers

  • Gently used or new boys’ pants

  • Gently used or new gloves or mittens

  • Gently used or new winter hats or caps

  • Gently used or new waterproof jackets

  • Gently used or new waterproof snow pants

  • Other warm clothing items are also welcome!

All donations can be dropped off at the elementary office. Your generosity helps ensure every child is prepared for outdoor play and winter weather.

Thank you for supporting our students and helping us care for one another as a school community!

October/November Highlights:

Storytime with Alex – “Penelope Rex and the Problem with Pets”: Our ASL teacher, Alex, recently read Penelope Rex and the Problem with Pets to our elementary students. The book, written by Ryan T. Higgins, is by the same author who wrote We Don’t Lose Our Class Goldfish, which our students enjoyed last month.

In this story, Penelope Rex, the lovable dinosaur from the We Don’t Eat Our Classmates series, learns an important lesson about caring for others—especially when it comes to having a new pet! The story explores themes of responsibility, empathy, and understanding what pets really need.

Students loved watching Alex bring the story to life in ASL, making it both fun and meaningful. These storytime sessions continue to support our students’ love of reading while building language skills and social-emotional understanding.

4th Grade 50 States Celebration: On October 29th, our 4th graders and staff had a fantastic time celebrating their amazing achievement—memorizing all 50 states in the USA! Students enjoyed delicious desserts, played fun “50 States” games, and worked together on a giant USA puzzle. Each student received a certificate of accomplishment and a USA map frame to take home, so they can color in each state as they visit new places across the country. What a fun and educational way to celebrate learning!

Meet Our new Athletic Director

Hello! My name is Christopher DiSanto, your new Athletic Director.

I come to TLC with a strong athletic background. I played a lot of different sports when I was in high school.

I was an assistant Physical Educator teacher for many years at Lexington. Also, I was an assistant athletic director at Lexington.

I then became the Athletic Director at the American School for the Deaf for four years.

I am looking forward to start a new chapter here!

My vision as TLC’s Athletic Director is to create a champion culture at TLC, while working closely with our academic program. I want to make sure that our student-athletes do well both on and off the court - that will set us up for success!
