Principal's Message
Dear Mustang Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already wrapping up our first full month of school! Thank you for helping make September such a strong start. Our students are building great habits, friendships, and pride in their school community, and it shows each day.
Coming Up
-
School Picture Day — Monday, September 29
Make sure your Mustang brings their best smile! -
No School — Thursday, October 2
Please plan accordingly. -
Parent–Teacher Conferences — October 13–17
The week of conferences will be minimum days with 12:30 PM dismissal. -
Halloween at Maple — Friday, October 31
Halloween will also be a minimum day. We’re excited for a school-wide Costume Parade and Carnival—look out for details on costumes, schedules, and volunteer opportunities later this month.
As we head into October, let’s continue to remind our Mustangs of the importance of treating themselves, each other, and our school with kindness and respect. Together, we’re building a school environment that is safe, joyful, and welcoming for all.
With Mustang Pride,
Meghann O’Weger
Principal, Maple Elementary
School Picture Day!
Our school picture day is Monday September 29. Students will have pictures taken before first recess. Make-up day is November 6.
Food Deliveries
We have seen an increase in food deliveries for students. To be clear, our office staff CANNOT manage daily food drop offs for students. We cannot guarantee that the student will be able to receive food drop offs in the front office. We do NOT accept Door Dash or delivery service food for students under any circumstances. The delivery driver will be turned away. Please limit food drop offs to emergency situations only as it is a burden on our hard working front office staff. Our district is proud to offer free lunch for every student on campus every day. Please save special food from restaurants for our family picnic lunch days and encourage your student to remember to bring their lunch or order from the cafeteria.
Attendance Awareness Month
In September we are celebrating Attendance Awareness Month. Regular attendance helps each of our Mustangs be successful. Being present each day helps students stay on track academically, build strong social connections with peers, and develop the routines that support confidence and progress. When students miss school, they miss valuable learning experiences and opportunities to grow both academically and socially. Missing more than one day a month can add up to 10% of the school year and cause your child to be considered chronically absent. This affects our school dashboard, our school funding, and most importantly the success of each Mustang on our campus. Thank you for helping your child be here on time, every day!
Monday September 22 we will celebrate a the culmination of a great week of attendance with Pajama Day!
Finally we will have a monthly attendance goal as well! If our Maple mustangs can improve our overall attendance by 1% this month we will have school-wide spirit shirts for every student as a reward. Help us to earn this reward by making sure our #MustangsShowUp in the month of September!

Updated CVUSD Cell Phone Policy
We wanted to make sure you are aware of the new district cell phone policy. I am sure you are aware of the dependency that many pre-teens and teenagers have to mobile devices. It has made it increasingly more difficult for kids to pay attention in class, engage with their peers, and we have seen an increase in students reporting anxiety and depression as a a result. We know that we need to do something different to help kids. Therefore, we are making school cell phone free areas. As a parent myself, I understand that parents are concerned about safety. We ALWAYS allow students to call home from the office. If you are putting a watch on your child, it must remain in "school mode." Any child found texting, accessing the internet, or using aps on their phone will have their phone/watch confiscated and it will need to be picked up from the office by an adult.
