Growing a Garden!
Week of March 31st
Dear Duval Families!
Last week of March, and Tuesday is April 1st, no fooling! Lots of learning and excitement continue at Duval!
Our residency with Josh Winer has been a wonderful experience for students, staff, and volunteers! Josh was in all week grouting, and the kids continued to get to see him each day as he added the finishing touches to their artwork. We look forward to the unveiling event for the community on April 9th.
MCAS begins this week starting with 5th grade on Tuesday, and then 3rd Grade on Thursday. K and 1 students will be heading to WHRHS on Thursday to see Funikijam, a show about "Oz in the Amazon," along with peers from the other WH schools.
If you haven't done so already, please take a moment to fill out the Duval School Council Survey. See article below.
Reminder that this Friday is an Early Release Day!
Have a wonderful week everyone!

Important Info
School Council Survey
Each year, School Councils develop a "School Improvement Plan" based on the strengths and needs of the school. To ensure we are hearing from ALL of our constituents, the Duval School Council (made up of parents, staff, and admins), is sending out a survey geared toward parents/guardians, as well as separate surveys for staff and students.
Please take a few moments to share YOUR feedback on the PARENT/GUARDIAN Survey HERE. Thank you for helping us make continual improvements to our wonderful school!
Funikijam
K and 1 students will be attending a wonderful performance by Funikijam on Thursday, called OZ in the AMAZON. While this is an in-district trip and permission slips are not mandatory, we did send them home so folks would be aware of the trip and let us know of any questions.
FunikiJam was founded by Brian Barrentine in 1999 to meet a growing demand for quality education and entertainment programs for young children and families. Starting with a weekly audience of just six families, the program quickly became so popular that Barrentine began training teachers, opening new locations. Now based in NYC, FunikiJam has evolved into a landmark early childhood education and entertainment organization with an annual reach of over 70,000 patrons.
MCAS
Annual MCAS testing begins this week in grades 3-5. Students have been preparing for the tests primarily by participating in high quality, differentiated instruction in their classrooms, but also by learning the ins and outs of online "standardized" assessments. Many thanks to our wonderful PTO for providing tasty snacks as a nice, supportive gesture for our students!
Safety and Traffic Notes
With warmer weather, a reminder that all students commuting on wheels MUST have a helmet on as per Mass General Laws. Also, no e-scooters please.
If kids want to come back to play, they MUST wait until 3:30pm, AFTER dismissal is fully over.
Please check Infinite Campus to make sure your phone and email info is correct. We're getting better but still need folks to make sure info is correct!
