Event Information
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Lipscomb!
Each year from September 15 to October 15, our nation observes Hispanic Heritage Month—a time to honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans whose roots trace back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The celebration began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week and was expanded to a month in 1988, recognizing the independence anniversaries of many Latin American countries during this time.
At William Lipscomb Elementary, this month is especially meaningful. Our community is enriched daily by the language, traditions, and cultural pride of our Hispanic families, and celebrating together provides an opportunity for all students to learn, connect, and honor the diversity that strengthens our school.
This year, our campus has planned engaging activities for students and families alike, including:
-
Quinceañera Tradition Day (October 3rd): Students may dress as quinceañeras or chambelanes while our Specials teachers bring this tradition into the classroom.
-
Piñata Contest (submissions due October 13th): A creative and colorful way for students to showcase their artistry and cultural pride. (stay tuned for more information)
-
Hispanic Heritage Night at Lipscomb (October 15th): Classroom displays, parent volunteers, and community celebrations will highlight notable Hispanic figures and traditions
More details regarding campus needs for the night will be sent in the coming week, but if you are interested in helping us make this night incredible, please reach out to Mrs. Martinez @ cmartinezquiroga@dallasisd.org
We look forward to celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with our families and community, honoring the past while building a future of unity and pride.
NEW INFORMATION
🌟 Pride Member of the Week: Mrs. Malanowski 🌟
This week we celebrate Mrs. Malanowski as our Pride Member of the Week! After first serving as a substitute, she stepped into our Total Communications classroom and has quickly become a central part of the program’s success.
Her commitment is evident—she stays after school each day researching activities and finding new ways to enrich the TC experience for our students. Her persistence, creativity, and dedication ensure that our kids receive the very best, every single day.
Thank you, Mrs. Malanowski, for your persistence, passion, and example—we are so grateful you are part of the Pride!

Applications for new DPAC members are now open!
What is DPAC?
- The Dallas ISD District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) is a group of parent leaders who collaborate with district staff to strengthen family and community engagement. Members meet monthly and share parent perspectives, provide input on district initiatives, and help shape efforts that support student success.
- Last year, DPAC grew from 5 to 18 parents. Members heard from guest speakers, connected with community resources, shared feedback with district leaders, and helped lead events like World Culture Night at Greiner MS and Family Career Night at Walnut Hill ILA. This year, 13 members are returning - and we’re excited to keep the momentum going with new members, projects, and committees!
Academy 4 starts this Friday!
- We are excited to welcome Academy 4 back to Lipscomb this Friday! Our 4th graders will join their volunteer mentors for Spark Clubs and mentoring sessions, building leadership skills and strong connections.
Kinder families: Join the New Woodrow Tradition!
- During the Homecoming Festival at Woodrow Wilson High School on Wednesday, October 1 from 5-7pm our Kindergarteners (Class of 2038) will meet Woodrow’s graduating Seniors (Class of 2026) at the 50-yard line.
- Seniors will “pass the torch” to our youngest Wildcats as they begin their Woodrow journey. ❤️ It’s a sweet way to celebrate school spirit and connect the youngest and oldest Wildcats.
