School Based Mental Health

Collaborative Wellness

Meet the Counselors

Lindsay Loewe, MSAT, LPC, NCC

Simran. This one word is a powerful tool that continues to shape my life and my profession. I have learned that in everything I do, I must start with this word. Simran has several meanings but each encompass the practice of inner reflection and staying connected to the truest parts of the self; carrying these outwardly in daily practice with others.

I wholeheartedly believe in using multi-faceted approaches to foster wellness in others; being a conduit for them to realize and live to the potential that every human being has within them.

My educational background is a Masters Degree in Art Therapy and I aim to use its approaches and theories in my work. I hold a dual-credential in Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders, am trained in Trauma Informed Care, am EMDR Certified and have a Level 1 Certification in Technology Abuse and Addiction in Youth.

My passion for working with others has led to my work within the clinical setting, educational settings and in area communities. I believe in advocacy, compassion and sustainable change.

I currently serve on the Fox Valley Technical College SUD panel, the Ripon Area School District Odyssey Academy of Virtual Learning governance board, am part of the philanthropic Oshkosh-Area GEMS group, an volunteer my time serving other community agencies.

Ally Bares, MSE, LPC, NCC

I believe we all strive to be the best versions of ourselves, working towards self-understanding, fulfillment, and authenticity. Further, I believe each of us is capable of reaching these goals. However, we’re often blocked by our environment.

Society has taught us to think, feel, and behave in ways that may not align with who we are as individuals. As a result, we’ve internalized messages about who we’re “supposed” to be, and how we “should” act. This incongruence leads to feelings of shame, guilt, inadequacy, hopelessness, and distress.

Similarly, from a trauma-informed perspective, I ask clients to look at what happened to them that brought them to this place instead of viewing the concern as something wrong with them. Often the “problem” to work through in counseling is simply a way we’ve used our strengths, skills, and resilience to adapt to our environment to protect ourselves.

Removing all judgment and coming from a place of acceptance and understanding, we’ll explore how you came to develop these self-preserving methods. Then, we’ll help you find new ways to cope and protect yourself in healthier, more sustainable ways. Ultimately, you will be able to embrace and manifest who you truly are.

As a counselor, I’ve adopted a trauma-informed, person-centered approach that encourages clients to accept and honor their true selves to lead more authentic and fulfilling lives. I practice CBT, DBT, brainspotting, art/play, and sand tray therapy. I work with individuals and couples of all ages who experience anxiety, depression, trauma, and adjustment-related challenges. I am also available to see clients at schools within the Omro, Ripon, and Winneconne districts.

Joshua Anderson, LPC-IT

Hello, I am Joshua. I am a dedicated and compassionate counselor. I enjoy working from a person-centered approach. I firmly believe that every individual is unique and deserving of personalized care. My goal is to meet clients where they are, providing a safe and supportive space where they can explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or pressure.

Counseling can be more than just a place to go when you're struggling. It is a collaborative process where client and counselor work together to understand and navigate life's challenges. In our sessions, you will not be treated as a diagnosis but as a whole person with your own experiences, strengths, and potential. I am committed to building a therapeutic relationship based on honesty, cooperation, and mutual respect.

As a new counselor, I am embracing the challenges and opportunities that come with this role. I am continuously learning and growing. I am always open to new perspectives and insights, even in areas where I already have knowledge. I believe that this openness to learning is essential in providing the best possible care for my clients.

When you choose to work with me, you are choosing a counselor to help guide you in your journey towards healing and self-growth. My role will be to listen, support, and empower you, helping you to find your own path forward

Rawhide

Meet the Counselor

Hannah Benson, LPC-IT

Hannah joined Rawhide Youth Services as a therapist in December 2025.

She holds her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-IT) credential and began her clinical career by completing her graduate internship, followed by full-time work in a day treatment program in Green Bay.

Before joining Rawhide, Hannah gained experience supporting youth in structured, therapeutic settings, which strengthened her passion for working with young people and meeting them where they are. As a developing clinician, she takes a client-centered approach and commonly incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices into her work.

At Rawhide, Hannah works with youth and families in a school-based setting, serving students in the Oshkosh and Omro school districts. She is based at the Boys & Girls Club office in Oshkosh and partners closely with schools to provide accessible, supportive care.

“When youth are empowered through guidance, support, and a belief in their potential, they can build a brighter and more resilient future. I’m grateful to be part of an organization that shares that belief and allows me to do meaningful work every day.”

Elementary School Elementary School

As October is National Bullying Prevention month, students have focused on what makes bullying happen and being an upstander, whether it is standing up for others or getting adult help. We also focused on self-esteem, empathy, and kindness in classroom guidance classes.

Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade also participated in Reach Counseling Protective Behaviors Program. This program provides information on child sexual abuse. Children will learn to say “no” to confusing or uncomfortable touches, learn rules for keeping their bodies safe, and learn that they are never at fault in cases of abuse. Children are also encouraged to identify adults who they can trust when they need help. I’m proud to share that students were very respectful following the Fox Four Way to the presenters!

As always, reach out if you have any questions via email at trees@omro.k12.wi.us or phone (920) 303-2322.

Middle School Middle School

What’s Happening at Omro Middle School?

October was a busy month at Omro Middle School as students and staff focused on promoting kindness, inclusion, and respect in recognition of Bullying Prevention Month. Throughout the month, students participated in classroom guidance lessons centered on positive peer relationships and the importance of being an upstander by speaking up and supporting others.

Our school community showed its support by wearing blue on October 5 for World Day of Bullying Prevention. Students also worked together to create a colorful mural in the lunchroom featuring the message, “Kindness Grows Here, Bullying Stops Here.” Builders Club members helped keep the message going by sharing bullying prevention announcements throughout the month. To wrap up our kindness efforts, students had the opportunity to purchase Kindness Grams for friends and classmates, with a Halloween squishy included with purchased grams.

These activities served as a great reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in creating a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

Looking ahead, upcoming middle school guidance lessons will focus on the Zones of Regulation. This program helps students recognize their emotions, better understand how they are feeling, and develop strategies to manage their emotions and behaviors. Building these self-regulation skills can help students stay focused during challenging situations, work through disappointment, make positive choices, resolve conflicts peacefully, and strengthen friendships and relationships.
