Falcon Forward Day 5/5/23

We were excited for our 2nd Annual Falcon Forward Day on May 5. The goals of this special day are to build leadership and character through service and competition. We also want to celebrate the end of the state-testing season and encourage engagement and camaraderie among our students.

We kicked off our day with a motivational speaker, Mr. Bryan Suddith. We then moved into the service component of our day as project groups headed out to 6 locations across the county to complete service projects at Camp Graham, Camp Joy, Clarksville, Clinton County Fairgrounds, Cowan Lake State Park, and Denver Williams Park. Other students worked to pay it forward and spruce up our school campus which serves as the center of our community.

We would like to thank Purkey Landscaping and Lowes of Wilmington for their continued support of our students and community by donating tools, supplies, and other resources.

After completing our beautification projects, students were provided lunch with support from Roosters (Springboro) and Papa John’s (Wilmington). A BIG thank you to both of these restaurants for the food, prizes, coupons, and support they continue to show for our students and school. Kroger (Wilmington) has also donated 800 waters for this day to keep students hydrated. Thanks to Kroger for their continued partnership.

Beginning in the afternoon, students transitioned into the student engagement portion of our day. We had class competitions in matball and dodgeball. Other activities were also available for students that included: Inflatables (from Bounce at Home), Pickleball, Cornhole, and Dodgeball. Desserts, prizes, and video games were also available. Kona Ice was on campus for purchase, and other desserts were provided thanks to our CMHS cafeteria. Closing ceremonies began around 2 p.m. to recognize overall student efforts and class accomplishments. We also reflected on the experience to grow our leadership and character through service and competition.

LCYC and Student Ambassadors (L to R): Danica Henderson, Kaylene Gale, Sam Gould, Olivia Roark, Principal Aaron Seewer, Brighton Rodman, and Emily Kau

Final Exam Exemptions for EOC-Tested Areas

Final Exam Exemption based upon End of Course Test Results:

In recognition of the importance of End of Course Assessment results for students in their pursuit of graduation, we would like to offer an incentive to motivate students to invest their maximum preparation testing effort and full attention toward these measures as they are assessed in April & May.

If students are able to achieve a passing "proficient (700 or above) or competent (Algebra & ELA II - 684 or above)" score on their respective EOC assessments (Algebra, Geometry, Biology, English 10, U.S. History, Government), they will be offered an exemption from their final exam in the correlating course(s). This policy does not apply to CCP courses, vocational students, or Falcon Flex students.

If students desire to utilize this option, their exam grade will be entered as an average of the 3rd & 4th quarter grades.

Students may choose to forgo this opportunity of exemption and take their final exam in these respective courses to improve their overall final grade and test-taking skills. They may do this with the assurance that their exam grade outcome will be no lower than an average of their 3rd/4th Quarter grades.

Students are obligated under graduation requirements to attain course credit in each of these classes and for some of the tested areas, achieve a passing EOC score as a part of graduation eligibility.
