7th grade Boys vs Ithaca 2/13
The B Team played an outstanding game against a good Ithaca team, but unfortunately lost it on a last second buzzer beater 26-27. Jacob Casey led the Huskies in scoring with 10 points. Alex Rosenberg played his best game, scoring 5 points and providing very good defense and rebounding. Aiden Trinklein also had his best day yet and is showing great improvement from one game to the next. Aiden scored 5 points. He hit his first three pointer of the season.
The A team played great for 3 quarters and two minutes of the 4th quarter. Foul trouble hit the Huskies, but they fought hard, but couldn’t quite finish with a W, losing 25-31 to Ithaca in a very intense game. Samual Dunton knocked down two three pointers in the effort, while Marcus Plowden played incredibly physical, providing plenty of defensive highlights and rebounds. Blake Willman scored 11 points.
8th grade Boys vs Ithaca 2/13
On Monday evening, the Hemlock 8th Grade Huskies battled the Yellow Jackets of Ithaca. The B team played their best game yet, in an entire team effort that led to a win 34 to 17. Hemlock had a balanced scoring effort with 14 from Noah Van Haitsma, 5 from Grady Galbraith, 4 from Caiden Miller and Jordyn Smith, as well as buckets from William Foss and Eddie Dearman.
The A team suffered a tough loss to Ithaca as they battled being undersized throughout the contest. The Huskies hung tough for a half, but in the second half lost energy and were defeated 44-24. The Huskies were led in scoring by Mason Lavigne with 9, Xavier VanWagner with 6, and buckets from Drew Genow, Grady Galbraith, and Dawson Davenport.
7th grade Boys vs Freeland 2/15
B Team lost to Freeland on Wednesday. The game was not our best effort, as the Huskies lost 11-40.
The A Team played with incredible effort against the Falcons, losing a highly contested affair 43-47. Blake Willman poured in 22 points. Marcus Plowden, Max Martinez, and Trystin Church played extremely tough defense. The team continues to improve, but the schedule continues to get challenging. Alma, Swan Valley and Frankenmuth remain.
8th grade Boys vs Freeland 2/15
Last night the 8th Grade A and B teams were defeated by the Freeland Falcons. In the first game, the B team struggled with Freeland's speed and ball movement and struggled to keep the pace. Hemlock was led in scoring by Grady Galbraith with 6, and several players with 2 points a piece.
The A team lost a hard fought contest to a very skilled Freeland team. Leading several times in the first half, turnovers and fatigue set in in the fourth quarter and cost the Huskies. Hemlock was led by Wyatt Launstein with 9, Xavier VanWagner with 6, and Gavin Schmidt with 5.
