Hello IIS/STEAM Families,

We hope your summer has been filled with relaxation, fun, and special memories! It’s hard to believe a new school year is just around the corner. Our staff is busy preparing, and we are so excited to welcome our students and families back for the 2026–27 school year!

Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 8. For our Kindergarten families, the first week will look a little different as students begin in smaller groups. Watch your mailbox next week for a letter letting you know whether your child will attend Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday during the first week.

Before school begins, we hope you’ll join us for our Open House on Wednesday, September 2, from 4:30–6:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to meet their teachers, reconnect with friends, explore their classrooms, and drop off school supplies—helping make that first morning a little easier!

We’re also adding a little extra fun to Open House this year! Families will find some fun photo opportunities around the school, and the Two Scoops Ice Cream wagon will be near the playground with treats available for purchase. We hope it will be a fun and welcoming evening to reconnect, meet new people, and kick off another great school year together.

One of the things that makes our school community so special is the partnership between our families and staff. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you and support your child throughout the year. Together, we look forward to a year filled with learning, growth, friendships, and plenty of moments to celebrate.

Enjoy these final weeks of summer. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and begin another fantastic year together!

Bus route information will be available in the new Skyward Family Access beginning the evening of August 31, accessible through both the app and desktop version. As we prepare for the start of school, our Transportation Team is planning for longer-than-usual route times where needed due to local road construction.

Once school begins, families can expect regular updates about significant route delays through text messages, our district website and the C-I Schools mobile app. Watch for a more complete transportation update from the district in the next two weeks with additional information to help your family prepare for the first day of school.

Hello IIS/STEAM families!

It is with great excitement and pride that I introduce myself as your new Assistant Principal. I am honored to join this wonderful school community and partner with Principal Edwards to support our students.

Over the past 28 years, I have worked for Cambridge-Isanti Schools as a middle school math teacher, building technology coordinator and Academic Coach. I have had the opportunity to serve students in grades K-8. Throughout my career, my focus has always been on creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and challenged to grow.

I firmly believe that strong schools are built on open communication and teamwork between families, teachers, students and administrators. My door is always open and I look forward to meeting you at upcoming school events.

Let us work together to make this school year an amazing experience for our students!

As we begin the new school year, we want to share an update about our school calendars. To ensure the digital information we provide on our is accessible to all families and community members, our former printable, at-a-glance calendar is no longer posted on the district website. It is linked at the bottom of this newsletter - so you can grab it there at anytime. 😀

Printed copies are still available at Back to School events, school main offices, and the Education Services Office.

Families can also find the most current school and district dates in the Events section of our websites and in the C-I Schools mobile app. Each school website includes building-specific events, while district-wide dates such as non-school days and holidays are also included.

To find your school calendar, visit c-ischools.org, select Schools, and choose your child’s school. If you are unable to find an event or information you are looking for, please feel free to reach out. We are always happy to help.

Need help securing school supplies, backpacks, or outdoor gear for your child? Please don't hesitate to ask — we're here to help. Generous donors and local community businesses are stepping up to support Cambridge-Isanti students to kick off a great year.
