Library News
SIS Library Update
This spring we are discussing being responsible online and how we can think critically about what online content we are consuming and how it influences us, both positively and negatively.
As our students prepare for the responsibilities of middle school, they rely on the adults in their life to provide a safe and healthy environment for them to learn and grow. That includes monitoring how much, when and what they are playing and viewing online. Even if students do not have a phone or device of their own, they are seeing, following, and mimicking content that may not be appropriate. Here is a handy tool to start the conversation and come up with a plan for your home!
Check out these tips from CommonSenseMedia:
1.Create screen free times and zones
2. Turn on parental controls
3.Establish clear family rules
4.Watch and play together
5.Help identify healthy media choices
Did you know you can set up supervised accounts, set up time limits, turn off autoplay, and set content limits for your child on YouTube and other Google apps? Here is a handy guide to get you started.
As you go on Spring Break, just a few reminders to keep those library books away from the sand, sun or water! And as always, please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Thank you!!
A big thank you to Girl Scout Troop 3708 for their generous donation of books to the Lakeview and SIS libraries!
