Fisher Family Update
January 30, 2026

Good Afternoon Fisher Families,
Families now have access to their child's Elementary Standard Based Report Cards and Special Education Progress Report (if applicable) in the Aspen Family Portal. Parents/guardians must access the Aspen FULL SITE on a browser to view the report from a phone or other mobile device. Once logged into the portal via http://ma-walpole.myfollett.com, the report card will be listed on the Home Page under "Published Reports."
The Term I report card communicates student progress toward meeting end-of-the-year learning standards. The slight, but important, change we made several years ago to the descriptors of the Academic Performance Levels is the phrase “at this time”. The purpose of including this phrase is to share with families where their students are academically, at this time of the year.
Teachers assess student performance against these learning standards, which are specific and observable grade-level skills. Our report cards reflect the learning standards as outlined in the current Massachusetts State Frameworks. Teachers assess by measuring individual student performance against the identified concrete learning standards, rather than in relation to the performance of other students.

Have a great weekend,
Brian

2026 MCAS Testing Schedule
Families of students in Grades 3-5, please make note of the upcoming MCAS testing dates.
Indoor vs. Outdoor Recess
As you are well aware, it was very cold this week which resulted in having indoor recesses. We stay inside for recess when the “feels like” temperature is less than 20 degrees. It was nice to see the kids playing games together, building structures, drawing, laughing and chatting. Some of our students enjoy playing games on the Chromebooks too and all our staff are mindful of “screen time”. While using the Chromebooks at recess, we observed students together in small groups, being very social while playing, laughing and cheering each other on. We will continue to monitor Chromebook use at recess and occasionally unplug if/when we get another stretch of indoor recesses.
Special Recess on Friday February 6th
Next Friday, February 6, we will have a special recess for all students, featuring fun snow-related activities. Please remember to send your child to school with all necessary snow gear so they can fully participate.
Battle of the Books Breakfast - Grades 3, 4 and 5
Next Wednesday is our final Battle of the Books competition. Please encourage your student to finish any books they are currently reading in preparation for the event.
We also wanted to let families know that breakfast will be provided for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students on Wednesday, February 4.
As this is a school-based event and space is limited, we unfortunately are unable to accommodate parent attendance.

5th Grade “You’ve been Schooled”
Prepare to have your fifth grader “Schooled” with a school of fish in your front yard!
Our goal is to get each child of the class of 2026 at Fisher “Schooled” before they move on to graduation. A school of multicolored fish will appear on your lawn and “swim” there for 2 days before migrating to another yard. The students love this annual Fisher tradition and seeing the fish travel around town.
We will start the “You’ve been Schooled” event in mid March, and the schooling will finish once we have "schooled" all 5th grade students.
Please have this form filled out and submitted ASAP to help with our planning!
If you are interested, we will also be collecting Schooling donations to help support the 5th grade end of year ceremony, graduation, and other activities! Donations can be sent via Venmo to @Fisher-PAC marked as “You’ve been Schooled” or by sending in an envelope labeled “PAC/5th Grade You’ve been Schooled” with cash or check, that can be dropped at the front office at Fisher School. Donations are welcomed but not necessary to participate.
All adults are invited to be professional SCHOOLers by helping the fish migrate! If you would like to join our team of SCHOOLers, please sign up in the attached google form.
