Education Foundation Annual Auction
The Education Foundation for the Berea City School District will host its 23rd Annual Auction virtually this year, with online kickoff and closing events on March 5th and 9th. The Foundation has served Middleburg Heights, Brook Park, and Berea students since 1996. Proceeds from the Annual Auction enable us to continue providing unique classroom opportunities that would not otherwise be possible for our students as well ensuring we can diligently manage scholarship and grant funds.
The success of this event is largely due to our Community Partners and Patrons, who lend their names in support of our mission and provide our organization with financial backing, as well as our donors and bidders.
As a proud and involved individual who supports the BCSD, please consider attending AND becoming a patron of the 2023 Education Foundation Auction as a means to show your support for educational enrichment.
Thank you for your willingness to make a difference in the education of Berea City School District students.
Stay safe and well,
Sarah Hastings
Education Foundation Executive Director
Families, educators, school leaders, and public education advocates across the country are joining together in celebrating public schools, February 27th through March 3rd.
The teaching and learning in our local K-12 public schools positively impacts students and families, the neighborhoods, and communities they live in, and our nation as a whole. With commitment, creativity, and critical thinking, educators and school leaders continue to provide welcoming and engaging learning opportunities for our children.
Join us in saying THANK YOU to the dedicated teachers and staff keeping our students learning and growing this year.
Berea City School District's 53rd Annual District Orchestra Festival will be held on Thursday, March 9th at 7 p.m. in the Berea-Midpark High School Auditorium.
This year's guest conductor is Travis Jürgens. He won 2nd Prize and the President of the Jury Award at the 2019 Bucharest Music Institute International Conducting Competition. He has conducted the Rochester Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Boulder Philharmonic, and Denver Philharmonic, among others. He has worked with esteemed conductors, including Michael Tilson Thomas and Marin Alsop. Jürgens has been praised as "a superior conductor" and "well on his way to becoming a major conductor in the world of symphony orchestras" (Opus Colorado). The fully professional Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra appointed Jürgens as their next Music Director and Conductor in July 2018. Previously, he was the Music Director and Conductor of the Ohio Northern Symphony for five seasons, the Lima Area Youth Orchestra for three seasons, the Philharmonia of Kansas City for six seasons, the Associate Conductor of the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, and a cover conductor for the Colorado Symphony. He also held the position of Associate Conductor of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theatre in Denver, where he received the Leon Guide Outstanding Conductor Award. Travis earned his Bachelor’s in Piano from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, his Master’s in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Illinois, and his Artist Diploma from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. Additionally, he studied in Vienna, Austria and conducted the IES Vienna Chamber Orchestra. More details at www.travisjuergens.com.
This year's guest announcer will be Berea Board of Education Member Dr. Neal Postel. Dr. Postel graduated from Midpark High School and is a proud alumnus of the Berea City Schools music program. After high school, he went on to graduate from Ohio State University with both his B.S. and D.D.S. degrees. He has practiced dentistry for over 30 years. He enjoys being part of the Middleburg Heights Kiwanis Club and being a part of the Berea schools. He is married to Leslie, also a graduate of Midpark, and has raised two sons who also took part in the outstanding Berea City Schools' music programs.
Admission is free! Come and see our awesome students!
Titans for Tomorrow Campaign
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

The Berea Board of Education holds regular community conversations to give the public access to board members outside of the formal public participation setting of a meeting. Residents will have the opportunity to meet and discuss any concerns they may have with two board members during a 30 minute time-slot set aside prior to each Board of Education meeting. The goal of this effort is to more effectively connect with the public and learn more about the community.
