Update #2 From P.E.
It's hard to believe that we are in November and here in P.E. we are really working hard and having a lot of fun with our lessons, activities and units! There have been quite the variety of activities we have been enjoying which are filled with many different skill-based objectives.
Grades k-5 participated in some exciting kicking and soccer skill-based activities in mid October.
Grades k-2 really focused on the important skills related to kicking and soccer such as: dribbling, trapping, control, patterns, passing and shooting all while trying to exhibit proper technique and form. Our k-2 friends used these kicking, soccer and body skills while participating in a variety of class activities that were fun and active for all!
Grades 3-5 participated in different soccer and kicking skills during a variety of warm-up activities before progressing to more class activities like 4 Corner Soccer, 2 v 2 Cone Soccer and Shoot for a Goal!. All these activities showcased important foot and soccer skills while moving their bodies and having fun with their classmates.
All students also got a chance to celebrate the fall season in P.E while working on their important body skills. Students first participated in our “P.E Fall Festival”. Our Fall Festival was filled with many different station activities like: Pumpkin Patch Toss, The Great Pumpkin Kick, Pumpkin Knockdown and Cone Maze Hay Rides! The excitement was unmatched and contagious during play in these station
In addition, we played a game called the, “Fall House Knock Down” in which students practiced their overhand and underhand throwing for accuracy in an attempt to knock down some fun fall-themed characters that were living in the fall houses. Students showed great technique and excitement during play!
This week students are hard at work participating in a great strength activity called “Pumpkin Ball”. Students used a variety of skills and upper and lower body strength to move our giant pumpkin throughout the play area.
Lastly, we will be beginning some fun football skill stations next week in P.E where students will be practicing their throwing, catching, evading, kicking, dodging and offensive and defensive skills all while using footballs.
I am so proud of the effort and excitement that I am seeing each day with all our classes in P.E. Students really seem to be engaged and eager to learn when they come to class, and I always try my best to match their excitement! Please be on the lookout for information for our Elm Street School Turkey Trot that will take place during school on November 22.
