Assistant Principal's Message
Hello Canaan Elementary Families,
As we approach the festive month of December, I wanted to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and collaboration. A special thank you to all our families who attended parent teacher conferences. We are very proud of the progress our students have made this trimester. Supporting your student's education is very important and a good indicator of future student academic success.
As the weather gets colder, ensure that your child comes to school dressed warmly. We will continue outdoor activities as weather permits, so jackets, hats, gloves, and soon, snow pants and boots, are essential. If you are having difficulty purchasing these needed items for your child, please let the school know. We can provide you with a few resources that may be able to help.
Holiday Concert
We hope to see you all at our Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 10th at 1:30 pm. If you plan on taking your student home after the concert, please notify the school prior to the concert start time. We also ask that the audience
stay for the whole production. We will not be dismissing students until
the end of the concert to ensure there are no interruptions during the performances.
Holiday Break
Lastly, please be reminded of our holiday break. School will be closed from December 22nd - January 2nd, allowing families to spend quality time together during the holidays.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. Wishing you and your families a festive and joyous holiday season.
Warmly,
Erin Madore
Assistant Principal
Canaan Elementary's own Community Champion - Larry Seymour
A Community Champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.
Congratulations to Canaan's first Community Champion of the year, Mr Larry!
As Larry always says, he does it for the kids. He truly enjoys being around our students and takes pride in keeping our school looking its best for them. Larry balances his time between custodial duties and driving the bus—certainly not an easy schedule—but he makes it work with dedication and a smile. We’re grateful for all he does; Larry is an essential part of the Canaan Elementary community.
Thank you for all you do, Mr Larry!
Riverhawk's Book List
The Riverhawk's booklist was compiled by teachers, childcare providers, and school administrators and purchased under the First 10 Grant. Our hope is that our littlest Riverhawks will come to school familiar with these 10 children's books. These books can be found in all of our elementary schools, our local libraries, and at our local childcare providers.
October's Student of the Month Pizza Party
November's Student of the Month Pizza Party
Core Value of the Month - Joy
Each month Canaan Elementary students learn about a core value. These core values are essential for building good character and all point back to the BIG 3 - Treating others right, making smart decisions, and maximizing your potential. December's core value is Joy. Joy is finding a way to be happy even when things don't go your way.
Students will earn cougar slips if seen showing Joy and any of our previous studied core values. Each month, we will draw one cougar slip and that student's classroom will win an extra recess! Teachers also pick 2 students each month to be the Core Value Student of the Month. These students will receive a certificate, a medal, and be invited to a pizza party with Mrs. Madore.
Trust Student of the Month
Mrs. Gallison's Class - Adalyn & Amara
Mrs. Bellerose's Class - Joey & Peyton
Mrs. Whittemore's Class - Kennedy & Malcolm
Our Trust classroom of the month is Mrs. Bellerose's Class. The ticket pulled was Serenity's ticket. Mrs. Bellerose's class earned an extra recess!
