NES 8/12/24 Family Newsletter
8/12/24

Dear NES Families,
It was wonderful meeting so many of you at Open House! We are excited for the new school year and all of the new learning and fun it brings.
Please read below for information regarding parent pickup/dropoff for the first 2 days of school and beyond. It is very important that your child's teacher knows how he/she is going home each day. Please do not send messages in Rooms or emails during the school day to change transportation. Teachers are supervising students and conducting instruction and may not get your message in a timely manner. Please call the front office prior to 2:30PM, (863-462-5100) to make changes to your child's transportation.
We want your input and involvement in your child's education and academic success. Please keep an eye out for information regarding ways you can be involved (SAC, PTO, APTT) as we get going this school year.
We will be working on naming our new tiger this week! Encourage your child to think about some creative names to contribute and we will be holding classroom and schoolwide votes to give him a name. :)
We look forward to an amazing school year at NES! GO TIGERS!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal
Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

First Two Days of School
Families are welcome to walk their child to class during the first two days of school (August 12 - August 13). Walking your students on the first two days will be permitted between 7:50AM - 8:05AM. Instruction will begin promptly at 8:10AM and all visitors must exit the campus prior to that time. Please remember the teacher is responsible for supervision of students beginning at 7:50AM on August 12th. Be prepared to say your brief farewells as students must begin settling in for their day of learning. Parents must park and enter through the crosswalk gate as buses will be unloading in the front parking lot and parking will not be available in that area for parents. Parents will only be allowed to walk their child to the classroom, if you would like your child to have breakfast in the cafeteria, they must be dropped off in the parent drop off area. Otherwise, parents will be responsible for providing breakfast to their child prior to arriving at school so they may walk them directly to the classroom.
Parent Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
ARRIVAL
Student drop off and supervision starts at 7:30 AM. Students can enter the classrooms as early as 7:50 AM – this is our bell work time. If students enter the building with breakfast from home, they will be directed to the cafeteria to finish their breakfast. Classes will begin promptly at 8:10 AM. Students who are transported by their parents should be dropped off in the circle drive at the south side of the school. When using the student drop off area, please pull as far forward as possible and do not park in the traffic lanes. Only students should be entering the building through the parent drop off area doors. Parents should remain in their vehicles in the drop off circle. Parents and visitors needing assistance can kindly visit our front office and we will be glad to help you! Parents must use the drop off loop prior to the tardy bell. Students may only enter through the front office after the tardy bell and must be signed in by a parent. New for this year: Students being walked to school must say their farewells at the gate where the crosswalk and crossing guard are located. Parents may not enter the campus at the pedestrian gate unless they are in need of assistance in the front office and must report directly to the front office upon entering the campus.
Please do not block the entrance or exit of the bus loading zone or student pickup area. No cars or pedestrians are permitted in the bus-loading zone from 7:30 AM - 8:10 AM as this interferes with busing and can jeopardize the safety of our students.
DISMISSAL
Students are dismissed at 2:50 P.M. For students’ safety, the car that is picking up the student must have the school issued Rider Card displayed on the dashboard of the vehicle. These cards are available at Open House, and throughout the school year for new students. Should you need a replacement, kindly visit our front office with your government-issued ID and request one.
Individuals picking up students will enter the southernmost gate and form a double line entering the parking area. If you would like your child to enter from the passenger’s side, please pull up in the left lane. If you would like your child to enter from the driver’s side, please pull up in the right lane. It is very important that each car in the line will pull forward as far as possible so that a group of cars can be loaded at one time. Students will be called by the names that are displayed on your pickup card, and they will be walked down to your car between the two lines of vehicles. Please DO NOT attempt to pass or change lines in the pick-up area unless directed to do so by those on duty, as it can create a dangerous situation for students. To expedite the pickup line for all, if you do not have a student pick up card, please check your child out in the front office at the conclusion of the pick-up time at 3:15 p.m. Please do not attempt to walk into the parent pickup area, get out of your vehicle, or ask the staff on duty to make an exception. Thank you for putting students’ safety first!
Adult supervision ends at 3:15 P.M. If you are unable to pick up your child by that time, please register your student for After Care or make other pick up arrangements.
Parents needing to come into the building to meet with teachers, administrators, etc. may make a left turn into the parking lot to park, and use the pedestrian walkway to approach the building. Visitors should enter through the front office where you can obtain a visitor’s tag. No cars or pedestrians are permitted in the bus-loading zone from 2:30 PM – 3:15 PM as this interferes with busing and can also jeopardize the safety of our students.
