Tiger Talk
August 31st, 2025

First Quarter is Flying By!
We had a busy week in the elementary, but it was super productive and kept us all on our toes! We can't thank you enough for your continued support. We had a strong turn out for our Title 1 informational meeting night and are so appreciative. The home support regarding academics, behavior, and all things Smithton means the world to us!
This week we began focusing on the word GRIT. This just happens to be one of Ms. Warren's favorite words. At this time of year things begin to get a bit tougher for our kiddos and that can be overwhelming. We talked on our morning zoom this week about sticking with the hard stuff. Giving best effort and just gettin GRITTY with it. Productive struggles are where we grow as learners! When we talk about GRIT here at Smithton we mean:
G- Give it your all
R-redo if you need to
I-ignore giving up
T- take your time to do it right
Be sure to look through the entire newsletter, we have lots of upcoming events. Beginning with Pink week on Tuesday (see flyer below).
For the month of September we will recognize Respectful students. If your child does something that stands out to you as respectful we'd love to hear about it and share it with our entire Elementary at our morning zoom meeting. Message Ms. Dana or myself on the Rooms app or send us an email so we can celebrate the good stuff! warrenb@smithton.k12.mo.us or northd@smithton.k12.mo.us
Remember we are not in session tomorrow, Monday, September 29th!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. Microwaves- Microwaves may be used by our 5th and 6th grade students only. We currently do not have the staff available to assist with microwaving for our k-4 students. As we have made this transition we did make a few exceptions. We've reminded all students beginning this week we will not use microwaves unless in grades 5-6.
2. Transportation changes- Please contact the elementary office via phone, email, or rooms to notify us of any end of day changes for your child. Teachers do not always have the opportunity to check rooms or can sometimes be off campus therefore complicating things and compromising the safety of your child.
