Dear Families,

Happy spring and welcome to a brand‑new quarter. Spring has officially sprung, and we are off to a great start here at Neabsco. This past week marked my first week at Neabsco, and it was truly a wonderful one. I greatly enjoyed meeting so many of our students and families, and I look forward to connecting with many more of you in the weeks ahead.

Please consider joining us for our Autism Awareness Run on April 18th. It is a great community event, and I would love the opportunity to see you there and spend time getting to know our school community.

As we move into the spring months, we want to remind students about the importance of kindness toward one another. Our goal is for every child to feel safe, supported, and valued at school. As the saying goes, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Historically, spring can bring a bit of an uptick in behaviors, so reinforcing kindness and respect at home makes a big difference.

We are also preparing to begin Virginia SOL testing at the end of the month. We encourage our students to keep their momentum going, stay focused, and be ready to show all that they know. With continued support from home and school, we know they can do it.

We’ve got this, and thank you for your partnership and continued support.

With gratitude,
Rachel Pierce
Principal, Neabsco

Our House Day is always the highlight of the quarter! 🎉 A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. We are incredibly proud of all our houses for their teamwork, dedication, and for truly working with the end in mind. What an amazing show of school spirit!

April is Occupational Therapy Month—a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the role of occupational therapy in supporting student growth, independence, and success.

This month’s newsletter is a continuation of last month’s focus on foundational handwriting skills. We are building on those core concepts by exploring how children develop more refined handwriting abilities over time.

In this newsletter, you’ll find practical tips, strategies, and simple activities you can use at home to support your child’s handwriting development.

Interested in getting more involved as a Neabsco Parent?

Our children spend A LOT of time at school. Volunteering at your child's school gives you the opportunity to share in school-related experiences. It gives you more in common. It also allows you to see your children in a different environment. It’s rewarding to watch them as they put all the skills you’ve taught them into action.

Please reach out to our school's Parent Liaison to be added to our Volunteers list!

Techstravaganza is a free, public, hands-on STEM activity fair for elementary and middle school students in Northern Virginia. In previous years, we've hosted more than 4,500 students and 70 labs presenting STEM activities. Our exhibitors range from TJHSST clubs and our own TWIST volunteers to organizations like NASA SCaN, Art of Problem Solving, George Mason University, American Society of Naval Engineers, and the National Air and Space Museum. This year, we will be holding the 22nd annual Techstravaganza on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM at TJHSST.

Admission is free! More information about the event can be found on our website at https://techstrav.org/index.html or tjpartnershipfund.org/techstravaganza/.
