🔬JOM STEM Activity🧪
In February 2025, Ms. Olivia Jorgensen from Cherokee Nation brought Ozobots to help our 4th—and 5th-grade students learn about coding. The students had a great time practicing their coding skills. Thank you (wado) to Ms. Springer and Ms. Jorgenson for implementing this awesome activity into our 4th and 5th-grade science curriculum.

3-5 Club
3rd-5th club has been working hard to learn all the context to compete in the language bowl coming up in March. Many club competitions have taken place to practice everything from foods, to animals, to syllabary.

Students have been working diligently learning all of the Cherokee Syllabary symbols, general people, clans, Indian Nations, occupations, animals, foods, colors, and items around the house.
We are looking forward to competing in the Cherokee Language Bowl!

Cherokee Creative Writing Competition 2025
Congratulations to Aubree Chesney. Her piece, Nancy Ward, won 2nd place in the 5-6 Non-Fiction Division of the 2025 Creative Writing Competition. Aubrey was our only student who decided to participate in the competition this year, and we are very proud of her. Awesome job!
Native American Studies
Native American Studies students have been learning one Cherokee Syllabary symbol a day, for the past 35 days. Students can read, write, and recognize 35 Cherokee symbols! Recently, students finished a unit over the Trail of Tears, and are currently learning about Cherokee life after removal. The next unit students will learn about is Native American boarding schools and the long term effects it had on Native Americans.
Cherokee
Cherokee language students have finished learned all Cherokee Syllabary symbols! Students can confidently read, write, and recognize the entire Cherokee Syllabary! Students are getting a deeper understanding of common words, colors, phrases, and will soon learn basic communication phrases, and communicate with one another in class!
