Principal Update to Families
September 14, 2025
Message From the Principal
Dear Hubbard Husky Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are feeling ready for the week ahead!
Last week, our students began their i-Ready diagnostic assessments in reading and math. These assessments help us identify individual strengths and areas for growth, allowing teachers to tailor instruction and track progress toward academic goals throughout the year. We look forward to sharing your child’s results with you soon.
We will be holding make-up sessions this week for any students who were absent during the initial testing. The i-Ready testing window closes on September 19th, so please ensure your child is present at school to give them the opportunity to complete the assessment.
We’re also excited to invite you to our upcoming Open House on Wednesday, September 17th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and school staff, explore their learning environment, and learn more about classroom expectations and curriculum.
The evening will begin at 5:30 PM in the gymnasium with a brief parent meeting. Several of our community partners will also be present, eager to connect with you and share resources and support available throughout the school year. In addition, staff will be available to assist families with accessing and navigating the Parent Portal, in case you haven't yet had a chance to get connected.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office at 614-365-5564.
We look forward to seeing you at the Open House, and thank you for your continued partnership!
Warm regards,
-Mrs. Kendra McGaughy

📆 Upcoming Events
Event Information
School hours:
Our school hours are 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Doors open at 8:30amBreakfast, Arrival, Dismissal:
- Breakfast begins at 8:30 AM (for car riders and walkers) daily (bus riders will eat when they arrive), and students go to class at 8:50 AM. Students who are not eating breakfast should plan to arrive at 8:50am to limit time spent in the cafeteria. The tardy bell rings at 9:00 AM. All car rider and walker students will enter through the doors by the gym. Staff will be available to assist students in getting to class.
Dismissal begins at approximately 3:25 PM. Please be sure to read the arrival and dismissal procedures at the very end of this document. Please have clear communication with your child’s teacher and your child about how they are getting home the first week of school and thereafter. In the unlikely event that you need to make changes to your child’s dismissal method, contact the school office prior to 2:30 PM. Please do not email dismissal changes, and do not leave them on the school’s voicemail. In other words: No Call, No Note, NO CHANGE. If everyone follows procedures, we can fully dismiss in approximately 15 minutes (even if it seems the car line is long).
Walkers: Walkers will enter and exit through the gym/cafeteria entrance on Hubbard. You must have documentation in the office prior to your child being dismissed as a walker. Walkers are all dismissed at the same time. Any parents seen picking up their child in a car from the walker side will be removed from the walker list and have to pick up their child on Wilbur.
Car Rider Drop-Off & Pick-Up: There is one designated area for students to be dropped off and picked up. All parents who transport students to and from school should arrive through the student pick-up and drop off area located on Wilber St. on the North side of the school building. Students will then enter the school through the entrance by the gym/cafeteria. Parents are not to park on Wilbur or in the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Parents are not to drop off or pick-up on Hubbard unless it is after 9:00 am (students will be marked tardy and must be signed into the office by the parent/guardian dropping off). Additional traffic on Hubbard Avenue causes safety issues for students. Parents are expected to follow all school procedures. Also, please be aware that car rider dismissal may take longer than usual the first two weeks of school. We ask that you remain patient and we will get your child to you as soon as possible. Do not exit your car at pick-up.
We have worked with CCS Safety and Security to organize traffic patterns with student safety as a first priority. Please review closely the enclosed information regarding Car Rider-Pick Up & Drop-Off Procedures. You may begin lining up at 3:15 in the car rider line. If you park prior to that, you may be asked to move as we are not permitted to block the street.
