PRAYER
What does the month of November mean spiritually?
In November, we embrace the energies of life & death, the past and future, of memories and hopes, grief and gratitude - all woven together in wholeness through a grateful and humble heart.
We celebrate the last of the year's harvests, grateful for the abundance we rely on from the Earth.
MONTH OF REMEMBRANCE PRAYER
Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen
NEWS FROM MRS MCCLUE
Dear Families,
Kindergarten 2025 Orientation
Friday morning was a joyful occasion as we held our Kindergarten 2025 Orientation session. Excitement filled the air as parents and students alike eagerly took part. For some children who attended Pre-Kindy this year, the morning felt familiar, and they confidently waved goodbye to their parents. For those joining OLGC for the first time in 2025, the transition was surprisingly smooth, and they enjoyed meeting new friends.
This Orientation session is a meaningful moment for our school community as it marks the beginning of your child’s educational journey. We are thrilled to embark on this adventure with your children and look forward to warmly welcoming all families into our community next year.
Staffing 2025
As previously shared, Mrs. Amanda Cochrane will be on maternity leave in 2025 as she welcomes her second child. We are delighted to announce that Ms. Roisin McKeown will be stepping in during Mrs. Cochrane’s leave. Ms. McKeown is looking forward to joining OLGC and will attend the “Move-Up Morning” on 25 November to meet her future class.
Additionally, Mrs. Simone Hesse and Mrs. Alicia Randazzo will also be on leave in 2025. Mrs. Sammy Preston, currently a Pre-Primary Education Assistant completing her teaching qualifications, will take on the role of STEM Teacher. Mrs. Haylee Benedetti, a familiar face as a Relief Sports Teacher at OLGC with a background in Physical Education, will step into the Physical Education role in Mrs. Hesse’s absence. Please join us in congratulating both Mrs. Preston and Mrs. Benedetti on their new positions.
For Term 1, 2025, Mrs. Kirsten Bennett will be on leave for knee surgery. During this time, Mrs. Alicia Randazzo will cover Mrs. Bennett’s classes.
Move-Up Morning
After positive feedback from staff, students, and parents, we are pleased to host our “Move-Up Morning” again this year. This morning is designed to support students in transitioning smoothly into their 2025 school year.
On this day, Kindy to Year 5 students will visit their new classrooms and meet their 2025 teachers. Families will also receive an email with details about the 2025 staffing placements that same day. As placements are still being finalised, we kindly ask families to refrain from inquiring about these details with staff before the communication is sent.
Thank you for your support as we prepare for an exciting year ahead!
Warm regards,
Lisa

NEWS FROM MRS BARFOOT
ALL SAINTS DAY AND ALL SOULS DAY
As we approach November, the Catholic Church celebrates two important days of remembrance: All Saints Day on November 1st and All Souls Day on November 2nd. These days are dedicated to honouring the lives of those who have come before us, each in a unique way.
All Saints Day is a day to honour all saints, known and unknown, who have led lives of great faith and devotion. Saints are individuals recognised by the Church for their extraordinary lives of virtue, dedication, and love for God and others. On this day, we remember saints as examples of how we can live out our own faith with courage, compassion, and dedication.
All Souls Day is a day to pray for all those who have passed away, especially those who may still be in need of our prayers. It’s a time for us to remember and pray for our loved ones who have died, trusting in God’s mercy and love. Many people light candles to honour and remember those who have gone before us.
At school, we will reflect on these special days through prayer, remembering the saints who inspire us and the loved ones we hold in our hearts. This time offers us a moment to reflect on the importance of faith, love, and community, as well as the hope and comfort that comes from knowing we are united with those who have come before us
Christmas Appeal: St Vincent de Paul
Donating to food hampers at Christmas time is a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families who are struggling, especially during the holiday season. It brings relief, hope, and a sense of community to those in need, and it reinforces the true spirit of the season by emphasizing the importance of giving and sharing with others. These donations have a profound impact, and they serve as a reminder that compassion and generosity are central to the holiday season.
As we embrace the season of giving, we're calling on our wonderful OLGC community to support those in need by donating non-perishable food items to St Vinnies. Your generous contributions will help these families this Christmas. Let's come together and make a difference.
Students in each year group are asked to donate the following items for the Vinnies Christmas hampers.
Christmas Appeal: Giving Tree
Donating Christmas gifts to children in need is a beautiful way to share the spirit of the Christmas season and create a positive impact on individuals and communities. It spreads joy, teaches important values, and strengthens the bonds that tie us together as a society. It's a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.
To support children in need this Christmas, we are asking for donations of presents to our ‘Giving Tree’. Families are encouraged to take a tag from the tree in the Office, buy a present appropriate for the gender/age, then pop the present (unwrapped but in a gift bag) under the tree. All presents will be donated to the Bandyup Women’s Prison children’s Christmas party.
