The News
Happy Friday! I am sending out next week's newsletter early for two reasons: 1) winter weather and 2) AHSAA reclassification.
Winter weather is upon us! Who knows what will happen with the weather this weekend? We are likely to get some ice and snow. So have fun but be careful! Avoid power lines and trees. Ice can bring them down quickly. Also, keep in mind that any events next week, especially early in the week, are subject to change due to weather/icing concerns. As a matter of fact, school is cancelled on Monday as is our basketball games at Double Springs.
Now, onto reclassification. The AHSAA released their long awaited and delayed classifications for the 2026-28 school years (this will go into effect in the Fall). This was supposed to be released back in mid-December but it was delayed because of mediation with the State and conflicts over the CHOOSE Act (a private school/home school bill) and conflicts over Public vs. Private schools. So, here are the details:
* We will be in Class 2A
* Public and Private Schools were split and public schools were split into six classifications instead of seven.
* Our football region will be Colbert County, Falkville, J.B. Pennington, Sheffield, Tanner and Double Springs. Our non-region games will be Red Bay, Central-Florence, and Hackleburg.
* Our volleyball area will be Carbon Hill, Cold Springs and Winston County
* We will know all other sports later in the year but they normally closely align with volleyball. Not always but most of the time.
Have A Great Weekend and Great Week Next Week!
