Headteacher's comment
It has been a really uplifting week in school this week, marked by a wonderful blend of learning, community spirit, and professional collaboration. Our Parent Event Week proved to be a particular highlight, with families joining a variety of sessions across the year groups. From creative art activities in classrooms to engaging storytelling events, the enthusiasm from pupils, staff, and parents alike created a warm and vibrant atmosphere throughout the building.
The children approached their assessments with admirable focus, and staff worked diligently to ensure that pupils felt supported and confident.
Targeted work such as reading boosters, SEND drop-ins, and provision meetings—continued to ensure that every child receives the care and attention they needed. Another highlight was the whole-school Christmas music workshop, which brought joy, energy, and a real sense of togetherness.
Overall, it has been a lovely week—full of purpose, connection, and celebration. My thanks go to everyone who contributed to its success.
Have a super weekend everyone
Mr Mitchell

Collective Worship
The Empty Pot
This week in collective worship, we shared the beautiful Chinese folktale The Empty Pot by Demi. The story follows Ping, a young boy chosen by the Emperor to grow a flower from a special seed. When Ping’s seed fails to grow, he bravely presents his empty pot—only to learn that all the seeds were cooked and could never have sprouted. Ping is praised for his courage and honesty, reminding us that integrity is more important than success.
In class worship, children reflected deeply on the theme of honesty, recognising how it helps to build strong relationships and happy communities. This also linked to one of our key Christian Values: trust. Through Ping’s example, we explored how trust is created when we choose to act truthfully, even when it feels difficult.
The story offered rich opportunities for children to grow socially, emotionally, culturally and spiritually. As a school, we place great importance on nurturing pupils who are compassionate, responsible and reflective—children who will grow into good citizens and make a positive difference in the world.

Parent Event Week
This week has been full of exciting learning opportunities across our classrooms. On Monday afternoon, our Wrens class engaged enthusiastically in Great Fire of London activities, exploring this pivotal historical event through creative and hands-on tasks. Meanwhile, Chaffinches deepened their understanding of prehistory with immersive Stone Age-themed activities.
Tuesday saw artistic skills flourish with Sparrows focusing on sketching and still life drawing during their morning session. The Christmas spirit was alive and well in the afternoons, with Magpies, Kingfishers, and Woodpeckers classrooms all busy crafting beautiful Christmas decorations.
On Wednesday, Kestrels reflected on history through creating moving artwork inspired by the events of World War II.
Finally, a big thank you to all the parents who joined Barn Owls this morning to help with Christmas decorations. Your involvement truly enriches our school community and the children’s experience.
We look forward to more inspiring learning and collaboration as the academic year progresses.
