From the Desk of Your Principal
Dear Highlander Families,
Just 4 days, one Senior Sunset, and one Graduation to go. We've got this. To our soon-to-be graduates, Thank You. I wish you amazing success as you leave the halls of PHS onto the next step of your journey. Visit us anytime and share your learnings with us.
For our returning students, I hope you get to find some magical moments this summer. It doesn't have to be far away, and it can sometimes be staring right at you. Read a good book, share some wonderful moments with friends (and family), and know that I'll be here come August 10th with my morning music and perhaps some dance moves to accompany it!
P.S. There will be two more newsletters (June 5 and 12) before I sign off for the summer.
Warmly,
Dr. Yoshihara
Important Dates
June 2: Senior Sunet (6:30 pm, Witter Field)
June 4: Graduation (5 pm, Witter Field)
Cap & Gown Day a Huge Success!
Cap & Gown Day took place this past Wednesday at all our elementary schools. Thank you to all the parent chaperones, teachers, support staff and administrators at our elementary schools for being amazing hosts. There was a lot of joy and plenty of tears to go around. I've shared my collage with the principals for future use.

Got Manga?
I thought I would post this here in case we have any families that may read Japanese. My daughter (who is nearly fluent in Japanese) is cleaning out her manga collection. Most of it in is English, but she has a collection in Japanese. If any family would like her collection, or knows a good home for them, just reach out. Otherwise, the local Goodwill will inherit a nice collection of graphic novels.
Counseling Corner:
End-of-year Update
Hello families,
As the year comes to a close and students are working hard to get their final assignments submitted, the counseling office is organizing credit recovery for students who received a D or an F. Please check Schoology with your student to confirm whether or not they will need credit recovery over the summer. If you believe your student will require credit recovery, please reach out to their counselor for next steps.
From,
The Counseling Office
Updated Chromebook Collection
Chromebook Collection:
As we transition into the summer break, we are re-establishing our practice of collecting student Chromebooks. This allows our technical team to provide essential TLC and repairs, and reinforces the role of these devices as dedicated tools for academic growth.
Device Collection:
Wednesday, June 3rd
10am - 11:30am and 12:30pm - 1:30pm or later
Thursday, June 4th
10am - 11:30am and 12:30pm - 1:30pm or later
in the PHS Library
Students can return their Chromebooks early on Wednesday or Thursday, if their P1, 4, 6, or 7 teachers are not giving a digital final exam, do not need the device to study.
Charger Collection:
9th - 11th graders are to keep their chargers
12 graders can return their charger if they still have it. We will not charge seniors for lost chargers.
Keeping PUSD Chromebook for the Summer:
Families who wish to keep their child's device for the summer may do so by completing the Chromebook Summer Check-Out form and have their child bring the completed and signed form to the IT staff in the PHS Library during the above collection times.
Unless a summer check-out is requested, devices will be repaired, safely stored and reissued to your chlid during fall registration. Devices that are not officially checked-out for summer use, will have their access blocked for the summer.

A Note from the PHS Parents' Club
Where did this year go?! The last week of school has a way of always sneaking up on me - I hope I'm not alone. Next week is going to be packed with finals, celebrations, senior events, and all the feelings that come with them. If you see a senior parent, offer a kind word; they're proud, nostalgic, and maybe a little weepy. To the rest of our Highlanders and especially their parents — sophomores, juniors, the freshmen who somehow survived their first year of high school — enjoy your summers. Rest and recharge, then come back in the Fall ready to make this next year yours.
The Parents' Club is one of the best ways to stay connected to PHS, and learn about issues and events impacting your kids' day-to-day HS experience. There's a place for everyone at the Parent's Club — whether it's volunteering for an hour in the library, a few hours to help with brunch or lunch, etc. or by showing up to our monthly meetings. Speaking of meetings...we already have next year's meeting dates ready to share, so you can plan ahead. We'd love to see some new faces at the Parent's Club next year — come find us!
Warmly,
Andrea Zambrana

PHS Music Peformances
A special Thank You to Mr. Chaix and all his music programs for their amazing performance on Thursday night. In case you missed it, or if you want to watch it again, we have a recording. They get better every year and the A Cappella Choir--amazing!
Senior Textbooks/Chromebooks/Fee/Etc.
Seniors have received a spreadsheet and email with specific information on what they need to return before graduation. Please ask your senior if they have a plan for any missing items! Diplomas will be held if students have outstanding fees or items to return. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Marik directly.

PR 3 Now Available in IC
Parents and Students--Progress 3 is now available in Infinite Campus. Please check in your student and review the latest grade in Schoology if you have any specific questions. Also remind your student that we have a few more Academy days to connect with teachers if needed.
We also understand that these last few weeks of school can be stressful. We continue to ask students to take care of themselves and ask for help when needed, and come to see their counselor.

Streaming Graduation
Graduation will be livestreamed again this year. Because of the technical setup, we can't provide a direct link ahead of time, but there are two options to view it:
- Viewers will need to search for the title “2026 Piedmont High School Commencement Ceremony” once the event goes live.
- Visit the PUSD video channel live page. https://www.youtube.com/@piedmontvideo6138/streams
For nostalgia, here is last year's graduation ceremonies. We will provide an archive for families after the ceremonies this year as well.

Thanks & Appreciations
- Kudos to Ms. Chamberlain for an amazing Guitar Engineering Showcase last night. The fruits of our student's labor was on full display for all to see. Very nicely done!
