What is PBIS?

PAWS is the acronym that represents our school’s slogan for the PBIS initiative, a.k.a. Positive Behavior Interventions and Support. PAWS represents the following concepts: Positive attitude, Act responsibly, Wise choices, Show respect.

PBIS PAWS Expectations

As a school, we have created behavior expectations for specific areas on campus. These areas include classrooms, walkways, library, office, playground, bus/pick up area, the cafeteria, and bathrooms. Students learn and review these expectations throughout the school year. Students are not only able to apply these expectations at school, but also at home and in the community. We want our NG Panthers to posses the skills to be successful citizens in all aspects of life

Acknowledgements for Positive Behavior

Students may receive acknowledgements for demonstrating appropriate behavior in the classroom and around the school campus. Acknowledgements might be a PAWS Ticket, Golden Ticket, PAWSITIVE Office Referral, Dojo points, etc. If your Golden Ticket is pulled in the drawing on Friday, you get to spin the Prize Wheel! Students with good behavior have the opportunity to participate in Panther Pride Day on a quarterly basis.

Major Behavior Referrals

All students are expected to display safe and appropriate behavior while attending school and school related functions. Major offenses (listed below) may result in a behavior referral and possible suspension/expulsion. Additional resources on discipline and Education Code can be found below in the MUSD Student Handbook.
