Scholastic Book Fair!

The Book Fair will be open this week. Please watch for more information!

Also, please come early on Wednesday, April 13th for Donuts with Grown Ups and visit the Book Fair while you are here!

IREAD-3 Scores Coming Home

IREAD-3 Scores will be in the mail by Tuesday, April 12th. Our students and staff did a great job preparing for this assessment! There will be a letter attached with details. Please contact your child's teacher or Mrs. Etienne with questions.

ILEARN Testing Begins April 18

Here are some tips to help everyone be successful!!
The week before:

Move any scheduled appointments to a date outside testing week or to the afternoons if possible.
Discuss the upcoming test and what we have been doing to help prepare them for it.

The night before:

Ensure your student eats a healthy dinner.
Plan on a night of good sleep (take away devices before bedtime).
Lay out comfortable clothes for the next day.
If stress and anxiety are a problem play a game, go for a walk. Physical and mental activity will help relieve the stress.

The morning of:

Have the student up early enough to enable them to prepare without rushing.
Eat a healthy but not heavy breakfast. Remember we are testing at 9:00 a.m.

During the test:

Breath. As simple as it may seem many of our students find themselves holding their breath creating unnecessary stress and anxiety.
Help instill confidence. Remind them to think positive thoughts. Get them to “Self talk” (Tell themselves they will do his/her best and they are well prepared for the test). They can do this well!

Water Bottles

Every student needs a water bottle at school due to our water fountains being out of service. This is a reminder that water bottles are for WATER only. Students should not bring juice, gatorade, tea, Kool-Aid, soft drinks, etc. in water bottles. ALSO, students should not bring soft drinks in their lunch from home.

Warm Weather Dress Code

The weather will soon be getting warmer. Please remember that our building can be cool when the air conditioning is running, so your student may still need a jacket. Students may wear sleeveless shirts and shorts, but spaghetti straps and short shorts are not allowed. Please refer to the student handbook for details.

Community Garden

Mrs. Cox's 3rd Grade Class recently received the Growing Together mini-grant from Purdue Extension of Crawford County to start a community garden. The raised beds have been installed on the east side of the parking lot and seeds have been sown! Pictures to come soon!
