The Buzz
from Roxbury Village School
Thank you, PTO, for a great trip to Liberty Orchards!
We had a great time picking apples this week and learning about what apples need to grow and thrive here in Vermont. Before picking varietals like the Liberty, Brookfield, and "Maggie", we also had a chance to hear about why this season was especially challenging, and just how much rain fell on our apples this summer. We look forward to using these apples to create some delicious treats for Open House!

RVS Dates to Remember
- Picture Day is this Wednesday, September 27th. You should have already received information from Tina about ordering photos from Ember Photography - if you have not, please email tinayoung@mpsvt.org for info.
- Fall Open House will be on Thursday, September 28th from 5 - 6 PM. All families are encouraged to come see your child's classroom, meet their teachers, and hear all about their days at school!
- The Montpelier Roxbury PIE (Partners in Education) will host the Fall Festival and Fun Run this Sunday, October 1st from 12:00 - 4:00. Welcome our PAWSitively reading pals, Ariel and Calypso!
Our favorite book-loving pups are back again, visiting with students from each grade level every Wednesday. Students will read to each dog, collecting beautiful bookmarks as they go! We had a great time meeting with Ariel and Calypso, and we look forward to getting into our stories this Wednesday.
Extracurricular clubs and community events:
This Saturday, 9/30 from 1-4PM, music and family fun will happen at Roxbury's New Village Park! Find the flyer coming home with your student today for more info.
Camp Meade in Middlesex is hosting a number of after school and weekend art and music programs, including glassmaking, robot drawing and printmaking, and nature drawing for kids. To find info on specific classes, visit their webpage here: https://campmeade.today/art-and-music-programs.
September Reading Challenge
Students in grades 1-4 are participating in a reading challenge for the month: BINGO! (Kinders, don't worry - you will complete a challenge with your class!). Look for BINGO sheets coming home today with different book categories to read. Kids are encouraged to think about their challenges as they visit the library on Fridays. Families are welcome to get involved: students have been asked to read on their own, with someone, or by listening! Readers should bring their boards back to school on Friday, September 29th for a prize. Happy reading! Our new October Challenge will begin next Monday, October 2nd.
