MATH NIGHT - A HUGE SUCCESS!
Math Night was a super success on Wednesday night last week. Families came out to explore our galaxy and others in many space themed math games, challenges, and puzzles. It was great to see so many of you there! Enjoy these photos from another great evening event at Phelps:
FAMILY / TEACHER CONFERENCE SIGN UPS
Phelps Elementary uses an automated system to make conference sign-ups as convenient as possible. Please use the link below to sign up.
You will be prompted to select your child’s teacher and then complete the information page. This will then bring to you the page to select your day and time. You will receive an email confirming your conference. If you have more than one student at the school you can repeat the process and ensure that the two conferences are close together.
We look forward to collaborating with you at conferences!
RETURN OF PAWS
PAWS have returned to Phelps! PAWS are another layer to our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), which includes our House System, house meetings and house mentors. Students earn a PAW by getting caught being awesome! Being respectful, responsible, safe, and kind will earn you a PAW. Once earned, students put their name on the back and into one of the bins for their grade in their pod or in the cafeteria. Each Friday, all of the PAWS are combined by grade and one random PAW champion from each grade is crowned. The recognition includes a certificate, a group photo, a posting on the PAWS board in the cafeteria, 20 points for your house, and choice seating in the cafeteria for the week. Below, check out a picture of our first group of champions.
Congratulations!
GLOBAL PLAY DAY AT PHELPS
Global play day at Phelps is coming up: Thursday, March 27th. During Global Play Day, participants are encouraged to allow students ample time for free play without the use of screens, structured games, or adult direction. The idea is to let children explore their creativity, problem-solving skills, and social interactions in an unstructured and spontaneous environment. On this day, students will be grouped by their Houses to engage in play across grade levels.
REPORT CARDS
Report Cards will be posted online Thursday 3/20 and DIBELS reports will come home Friday 3/21 for you to review prior to parent/teacher conferences.
ACTING PRINCIPAL ANNOUNCEMENT
In case you had not read this email from Dr. Cron, this was sent out to Phelps Families just after February School Vacation, and is being reposted here to make sure it is seen. Thanks! - Mr. E
Dear Phelps Families:
I am writing to share that our beloved Principal Michelle Scheufele has undergone surgery and is currently recovering. We wish her a smooth and restful recovery and look forward to welcoming her back. For the duration of Michelle’s recovery, I have appointed Kelsey Holbrook as Acting Principal of Phelps Elementary School.
Kelsey is an exceptional educator and leader dedicated to our students and supported by our incredible staff and strong administrative team. Together, we are committed to ensuring that our students continue to receive the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
Please reach out to me directly with any questions.
Sincerely,
Alan Cron, Ed.D.

A NOTE FROM STEAM
Grade 1 students earned a STEAM party and these students designed their own animal figurines using Pix Brix. One is a polar bear and the other is a Radiance house horse. Neigh!

First Place: Unity House
Second Place: Valor House
Third Place: Radiance House
Fourth Place: Harmony House
Fifth Place: Honor House
ALL BULLDOGS COMBINED: 28496
Students have worked hard to earn House points toward their assigned House this year: Harmony Dolphins, Honor Eagles, Radiance Horses, Unity Wolf Pack, and Valor Lions. Above are the current house standings as of Friday. Combined, students surpassed their goal of 25,000 points and earned the right to vote on a school wide reward.
Students have just a couple more weeks to accumulate points for their house until our second House Champion will be crowned. Unity and Valor are engaged in a very close battle for first, or will Radiance come from behind to repeat as House Champions? Or will Harmony or Honor come from behind and pull it out? Encourage your kids to be Respectful, Responsible, Safe and Kind to earn points to help their house win!
