✝️ Prayer

Loving God,

We give You thanks for mothers and all the special women in our lives; those who nurture, guide, comfort and care for us with patience and generosity. Bless them with strength for the days that are busy, peace for the moments that are quiet and joy in the love they so freely give.

Help us to show them kindness, gratitude and appreciation in both our words and our actions.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, we thank You for the gift of family and for the many ways mothers help us to grow in love, faith and hope.

May our homes be filled with understanding, laughter and care and may every mother and mother figure feel truly valued and loved.

Guide them, bless them and keep them in Your loving care always.

Amen

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Motherhood is so often found in the quiet, everyday moments. The words of encouragement, small acts of care and the steady presence of someone who is always there. It is also something we are so fortunate to witness each day in our school community, whether it be a warm “love you, have a good day” at drive through, the care shown in parent meetings, or the many ways mothers, grandmothers, aunties and special women advocate for their children and help shape happy lives and treasured childhood memories.

I feel incredibly grateful for my own mum, whose love and support have shaped me throughout my life and continue now as she brings such joy to her role as a grandmother, making each of my children feel special and loved. My Aunty Nola has also been a constant and caring “mum” figure in my life. Reflecting on the many memories we’ve shared, I am reminded how fortunate I am, and grateful to God, to be surrounded by such strong and generous women. I hope I can carry these lessons with me, and that one day my own children will feel the same love and support that I have been so fortunate to receive.

Wishing all mothers, mother figures and grandmothers a wonderful Mother’s Day this weekend.

MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST: FRIDAY, 8 MAY 7:30am

We are excited to come together to celebrate the wonderful mothers and special women in our community at our upcoming Mother’s Day Breakfast. This much-loved event is a highlight of our school calendar, and we extend our sincere thanks to our P&F for their ongoing support in making it possible.

Important Safety Information:

  • Toilets: Adults are asked to use the toilets in the hall. Students are to use the student toilets located outside the Kindy/Pre-Primary block.
  • Student Supervision: Please ensure your child remains within your sight during the event. Students are to stay with their parents, and ball games are not permitted at this time.
  • Transition to Class: At 8:30am, students will move to their classrooms so we can prepare the hall for our Mother’s Day Liturgy.
  • First Aid: First aid is available from the front office if required.
  • Coffee Van: A coffee van will be available for adults only. Please note that beverages from the ‘coffee’ van will not be available for students.

We look forward to sharing this special morning with you all. 💐

ALL THINGS YEAR SIX

CAMP

Our recent camp was a wonderful experience filled with connection, challenge and joy. One of the real highlights was a beautiful liturgy held at the beach, where each child received a special letter from their family. It was a very moving moment and one that the students will remember for a long time.

Across the camp, the children showed genuine care for one another, looking out for their peers and encouraging each other through a range of challenges. They demonstrated resilience, teamwork and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones and were an absolute delight to spend time with.

The staff also thoroughly enjoyed the camp experience alongside the students, sharing in the laughter, learning and moments of reflection. From all reports, students and staff alike appreciated the “luxury” of returning to our own houses on Friday night after a full three days away.

CONFIRMATION

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of welcoming 24/7 Ministry, who facilitated a Sacrament of Confirmation workshop for our students. Staff shared very positive feedback, noting that “they covered everything we had hoped for in a joyful and engaging way.” The students were equally enthusiastic, with one commenting, “I feel like I learnt so much and it was fun.”

As our students continue their preparation, the Sacrament of Confirmation is a special moment in their faith journey, where they are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and affirmed in their commitment to live as active members of the Church. It is a time of growth, courage and deepening faith, supported by family, parish and school. We look forward to sharing in the upcoming parent and child workshop, and to celebrating this important Sacrament together next Friday evening.

Have a wonderful fortnight, everyone.

YEAR 6 CAMP 2026

From the 29th of April to the 1st of May, our Year 6 students enjoyed an unforgettable camp at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp in Hillarys. All 30 students arrived full of excitement and enthusiasm, ready to challenge themselves and make the most of every opportunity.

Across the three days, students showed outstanding courage and teamwork, giving every activity a go with a positive attitude. Highlights included the Lost Pilot challenge, rock climbing, vertical ascent, flying fox, caving and archery. Many students pushed beyond their comfort zones, building confidence and resilience while supporting one another every step of the way.

Some highlights from the activities included:

  • Lost Pilot: Students worked collaboratively using a walkie talkie, demonstrating excellent communication and teamwork.

  • Rock Climbing & Vertical Ascent: Many conquered fears, showing determination and resilience as they climbed to new heights.

  • Flying Fox: A favourite for many, building confidence and a sense of adventure.

  • Caving: Students navigated tight spaces, showing bravery and trust in their peers.

  • Archery: Focus and precision were on display, with students encouraging one another to improve.

  • Evenings were just as enjoyable, with a fun-filled games and quiz night, followed by the ever-popular spotlight activity. Everyone was well-fed and energised for each day’s adventures.

A sincere thank you to the teachers who attended and supported the students throughout the camp

Mr Magry, Ms Lanigan, Mrs Scadden, and our night duty team, Mrs Potts and Mrs B. Your time, care and commitment helped make this experience so special.

It was fantastic to see such encouragement, positivity and camaraderie throughout the camp. Every student should be proud of the way they represented themselves and the school. The camp created lasting memories and was a truly rewarding experience for all involved.

Request for Puzzle Donations

We’re excited to launch a new lunchtime puzzle session for students, beginning this term. These sessions will run once a week in the Auslan Room with Ms Sparkes, and all students are warmly welcome to come along, relax, and enjoy some mindful fun.

To help us get started, we’re seeking donations of jigsaw puzzles with 300 pieces or fewer (Preferably 100 – 150 pieces). Smaller puzzles are perfect for lunchtime and allow students to complete them in a relaxed, social setting.

If you have any gently used puzzles at home that are ready for a new life, we’d love to give them a home. Donations can be dropped at the Auslan room or sent in with your child.

Thank you for supporting this new initiative, we can’t wait to see the students puzzling together and having fun!
