Q1 Report Cards Available
Quarter 1 report cards will be uploaded to student folders on Wed. Oct. 22. All students have a student folder that has been shared with them through Google Drive. Teachers are no longer able to email reports to email addresses outside of PCS, so parents will need to use their child's school email to access reports. Students were notified through email that a folder has been shared with them. The name of their folder is "last name, first name." You can also find it in their Google Drive by searching their name or by clicking on "shared with me" on the left side of Google Drive.
The best place to find updated grades is in Infinite Campus. Grades are updated in Infinite Campus weekly. If you do not have access to Infinite Campus, please let me know. If you need to schedule a conference with any of your child's teachers, please email them directly.

preACT 10th Grade- Wed. Nov. 5
The preACT is a required test for all 10th grade students in NC. The PreACT simulates the ACT testing experience by providing students early exposure to ACT test-quality questions. The PreACT is reported on the same 1–36 score scale as the ACT, but PreACT has a maximum score of 35. The PreACT also provides a predicted ACT composite score range.
The PreACT assessment includes four multiple-choice tests: English, math, reading, and science.
The PreACT is designed to help parents and educators identify areas where students may need
additional academic support or remediation. The PreACT can also help to initiate strategic
conversations between parents and schools regarding dual enrollment decisions, identifying
curriculum gaps, implementing interventions on behalf of students, and choosing Advanced
Placement classes.
If you have questions or concerns about the PreACT, please contact Lindsay Wilkins
(wilkinsl@person.k12.nc.us), Testing Coordinator. The linked parent letter provides additional information.

Piedmont Community College (PCC) is pleased to announce its new partnership with North Carolina State University (NC State) through their new guaranteed admissions program, Wolfpack Connect.

To be eligible for Wolfpack Connect, students must have fewer than 30 transferable credits completed or in progress, be currently enrolled at PCC, and plan to pursue an eligible major or concentration at NC State.
More information can be found by visiting NC State’s Wolfpack Connect page. Eligibility forms will be accepted starting late January 2026 for students starting the program fall 2026. Eligibility forms are due by June 1.
PCS Attendance Initiative Every Minute Counts!
Every Minute Counts! Attendance matters now more than ever. Chronic absenteeism—missing 10% or more of the school year, regardless of the reason—puts students at academic and social risk. Research shows that even in early grades, frequent absences can make it hard to read on grade level, stay engaged, and ultimately graduate on time.
Our district, like many others nationwide, has seen an increase in chronic absences since the pandemic. As partners in education, we ask families to help us prioritize attendance by scheduling appointments outside of school hours, keeping routines consistent, and reaching out when challenges arise.
Together, we can ensure every child is present, supported, and ready to succeed—because every minute truly counts.

2025-2026 Calendar (Spanish)
Piedmont Community College Calendar
We align with the traditional school calendar with PCS; the first day for students is Monday, August 18, 2025. PCSVA utilizes the Google Workspace platform where teachers will instruct using both Google Meet and Google Classroom. Students enrolled in grades 9-12 also participate in courses through NC Schools of Science and Math. Courses for students who are enrolled at PCC will begin on Monday, August 18, 2025. PCSVA courses are asynchronous on Wednesdays.
Our program is designed to focus on effectively providing a high-quality, virtual learning environment for all students and we ask that families commit to being enrolled for the entire school year. Student engagement is critical in the virtual learning environment; therefore, students will be expected to keep their cameras on during synchronous (live) instruction with their teachers and peers. Attendance will be taken based on this policy. There will also be opportunities daily for students to work asynchronously and having parent/family support is strongly encouraged.
While we are able to instruct our students virtually, all district and state-mandated assessments will need to be conducted in person onsite at our location. Assessment schedules and detailed instructions will be provided in advance of each district and state-mandated assessment for 6-12 students.
