Treaty Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that Killam Public School is on Treaty 6 territory - the ancestral and traditional land of many Indigenous groups. We are grateful for the animals, the water and the forests that provide us with many resources we use each day. We are thankful for the diverse opportunities that this land offers. We respect the land in which we gather on today.

Principal's Message
Welcome back, KPS families!
It is so exciting to have our halls filled with students again! I am super excited to be back at Killam Public School, and I’m really looking forward to all that this school year will bring. We have an amazing group of students, staff, and families, and I truly believe we are going to have an amazing year together!
A big thank you to everyone who came out to our Back to School BBQ last night. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to have the opportunity to connect with students and families as we kicked off a new school year. What a great way to start!
As we get settled into our routines, I encourage all parents and guardians to take some time to review the Parent/Student Handbook with your children. It contains important information about school routines, expectations, procedures, and other general information that will help everyone start the year on the right foot.
I also encourage families to have conversations at home about school expectations and what it means to be a positive member of our school community. This includes talking about respectful behaviour, responsibility, and safety—not only at school, but also while riding the school bus. When we work together and have consistent expectations between home, school, and the bus, we help create a safe and positive environment for everyone.
There is always a little excitement (and maybe a few nerves!) that comes with the start of a new school year. Let’s make this a year filled with learning, laughter, and new experiences.
Here’s to a successful, positive, and amazing school year at Killam Public School. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together!
Welcome back! Let’s make it a great year!

Power School Information
To access the BRSD Parent Portal for the first time, visit the PowerSchool Parent Portal and click “Forgot Username or Password.” Select “Forgot Password” and enter your parent username (Firstname.Lastname, with no spaces) and the email address the school has on file. Check your email, including your junk/spam folder, for the password reset link, which is valid for 24 hours. Create a password that is at least 8 characters long and includes uppercase and lowercase letters, a number, and a special character. Return to the sign-in page and log in using your username and new password. Please note that only one account can be created per email address; families sharing an email may request an additional account from the school or share the existing account. The mobile app district code is NTPH.
We recommend using a web browser to log in to PowerSchool. Once logged in, you will be able to access all required pages and services from one convenient location. The Main screen will show you your child’s classes as well as marks and comments. The Menu on the left side is where you will find all the links:
‘School Forms & Fees’ to complete school-related forms, including field trip, consent, and athletics forms, as well as pay any applicable fees.
‘School Engage’ to complete your child’s re-enrolment forms.
‘Demographic Info’ if you ever need to find your child's Alberta Student ID
Student Absences & School Fees
Student Absences
To report your students absence please send an email to killam-aa@brsd.ab.ca . If a students bus is cancelled by division your student will be marked 'No Bussing' and there is no need to call in the absence.
School Fees
School fees statements will be emailed out by the end of September.
School fees are payable online using VISA DEBITor MASTERCARD. To add a student to your account you will need their student number which is found on the statement.
Terry Fox - September 22, 2026
Once again, we are participating in the Terry Fox Run and fundraiser for cancer research! Over the last 2 years, our school community has raised just under $9834! That is AMAZING! Thank you to everyone who has donated to this great cause. This year, we have set a goal of $4500.
Students will be bringing home donation sheets that can be filled in, or donations can be made online at https://schools.terryfox.ca/136294 or by searching for Killam Public School on the Terry Fox website.
Our student incentive this year will be throwing whipped cream pies at staff! Every $20 fundraised will earn that student another ticket in the draw to "pie" a teacher. Contact the school if you have any questions!
Breakfast Program
We are fortunate enough to have the Breakfast Program back at KPS. Big thank you to the Breakfast Club of Canada as well as Parent Council for funding.
Breakfast will be available in the morning and students depending on their home room teachers rules, can come to the office and get their breakfast before attendance OR their teacher lets them come down after attendance.
Breakfast usually includes: Yogurt, apples, oranges, cheese sticks and later on in the year may contain eggs and cut up vegetable.
