Administration Reports

Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations

  • Leslie Wagner shared the year to date revenue versus expenditure report. Expenditures are finalized for this year's budget but will continue to be monitored. This summer, Steeby's parking lot, the New Admin building, the new pool, and Pine Street's Roof are on the construction list. The transportation department recently auctioned off an old school bus and 3 old work trucks. The business office is wrapping up the fiscal year and is currently going through their interim audit.

Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services

  • Teresa Fulk shared that she met with Kasey Peters about different CTE offerings and they have decided to place a digital board that rotates different opportunities available to students in the high school. The MDE released their approved list last week for elementary reading curriculum eligible for grant funds, and unfortunately neither of the district preferred programs were on the list. Mrs. Fulk met with the committee last Thursday and they want to move forward with the SuperKids and Bookworms curriculum. Mrs. Fulk is negotiating with publishers and pursuing other grant offerings to make these two programs possible for our students without impacting the General Fund.

Superintendent

  • Tim Reeves shared that MDE Special Education Department allowed regions to enter into an audit and Allegan County signed up for one. Our county received a good report but more specifically, our district's special education teams were praised. He also shared that the district is finishing up the negotiations for contracts for the 2025-2026 school year. Lastly, Mr. Reeves shared that the end of year celebration highlighted the Outstanding People for Education recipients, which was new this year, and celebrated Cierra Onken on being the recipient of the Brenner award.

The biggest change in the secondary handbook is the movement for the high school to transition to a no cell phone policy, which the middle school piloted this past year. Another policy being updated is regarding attendance. AAESA has been working to create a county wide attendance policy. Wayland will be one of the district's piloting this next year.
