With another school year in the books, we reflect on a year filled with learning, growth, and countless memories. On behalf of the entire Springton Lake staff, thank you for your partnership and support in helping our students succeed this year.
Included in this newsletter is important information to help families prepare for next school year, including summer reading, summer math, community service opportunities, and other ways for students to stay engaged during the summer months.
I will be in touch again later this summer with updates and information as we prepare to welcome students back to school.
Until then, have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. Be well!
Sincerely,
Ryan Buterbaugh
Principal
Summer Learning Activities
Reading, Math, & Community Service
As we prepare for summer, we would like to share summer learning expectations and opportunities with all families. These plans were developed based on feedback from students and in collaboration with our faculty.
Summer Reading (Required for All Students)
Once again this year, students entering grades 6-8 will participate in a common read as part of our One School, One Book initiative. This year's faculty-selected book is New Kid by Jerry Craft. To help introduce the book, several of our students got a head start by reading it and creating their own promotional video to share their reflections and recommendations.
2. Summer Math - Optional for all students. Students who complete the assignment may fill out the Google form listed below to earn Spartan Bucks for their efforts.
If you are an Algebra I student, please contact the main office at (610) 627-6500
.Summer Community Service - Optional for all students.
Learning can take many different forms. In an effort to encourage students to become involved in their community over the summer, this optional activity is being provided.
Students are encouraged to seek out opportunities to perform service within the community during the summer months. Any service done for others (outside of your own family/household) will be considered an applicable activity.
Students who complete community service may fill out this form. Students will be recognized with a certificate at the start of the school year and will be rewarded with some bonus Spartan Bucks. Verification of students completing community service will be on the honor system.
Spartan Summer Community Service Award - Bronze Level (at least 5 hours of service)
Spartan Summer Community Service Award - Silver Level (at least 10 hours of service)
Spartan Summer Community Service Award - Gold Level (at least 20 hours of service)
Tentative Supply List 2026-2027
For those who like to plan ahead, we wanted to share the tentative school supply list for next year. This gives families the opportunity to purchase items as stores offer sales and discounts throughout the summer months.
PTG 8th Grade Farewell Dance
Thank you to our PTG for organizing and hosting a wonderful farewell dance for our 8th graders. It was a beautiful evening and a special way to celebrate this outstanding group of students as they prepare for their next chapter.
Enjoy a few photos from the night.
Nurse
If your student requires medication to be administered at school during the 2026–2027 school year, a written, signed order from a licensed prescriber, along with a completed Student Medication Authorization form, is required. Medications at school including EpiPens and inhalers need to be renewed every school year. Please see the Administrations of Medication policy for instructions.
Sixth grade students (upcoming 7th graders):
Students are required to have a Tdap booster and a meningitis vaccination upon entrance to 7th grade. In addition, a dental examination is required for students entering 7th grade. The dental exam should be one that has been performed within a year prior to the start of school. Please send in documentation of the immunizations and a dental examination if you have not done so already.
Have a great summer!

Student Lunch Accounts
As we get closer to the end of the school year, we are asking for your help to resolve any outstanding balances on your child's lunch account. Funds may be added electronically online or by cash or check in the cafeteria. Any funds remaining in your child's account at the end of the school year will rollover to the next school year.
