Ohio Direct Admission Participation Authorization Letter
Our district is participating in Ohio Direct Admission, which allows students to find out which participating colleges they meet admissions requirements for based on their academic records. To identify colleges and universities where students qualify for direct admission, the school/district will upload and/or confirm a student education record data (e.g., grade point average (GPA), test scores) into a secure portal where it will be matched against participating colleges and universities’ admission criteria. No student information will be sent to any college/university during this matching step.
By participating in the Ohio Direct Admission Program, the student and the parent or legal guardian hereby expressly acknowledge and authorize the student’s school or school district to disclose the student’s educational records—including GPA, standardized test scores, and other required academic or demographic information—to the Ohio Department of Higher Education (“ODHE”) and its authorized agents for the exclusive purpose of determining eligibility for, and administering, the Program.
By Participating, the student and the parent or legal guardian further acknowledges and agrees that:
- All educational records will be collected, transmitted, stored, and used in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all other applicable federal and state privacy laws.
- The Participant (student and parent/legal guardian) may request the opportunity to review the student’s educational information prior to its submission by emailing the Records Administrative Assistant, Christy Belford at cbelford@bereaschools.org by September 11, 2026.
- The educational records disclosed under this authorization shall be used solely for program-related purposes and shall not be sold, disclosed, or used for any unrelated purpose by ODHE, the school district, or any third party.
- If a student is interested in claiming a direct admission offer, they may elect to send limited information from the portal to an institution. No information will be shared from the portal without a student’s explicit consent.
Participation in the Program is voluntary. Participants who choose to participate must opt in by completing the form below by September 25, 2026. Participants who do not wish to participate in the Program do not need to complete the form. For more information on the Program, please visit highered.ohio.gov/direct-admission. A full list of participating colleges and universities can be found HERE.

News from the Clinic
Attention Seniors: The Ohio Department of Health School Immunization Requirement now includes two doses of Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine to be administered before a student enters the twelfth grade. Therefore, your rising twelfth-grader will need to show proof of having received the Meningococcal vaccine. Currently, there are no school entry requirements for Meningococcal B vaccine. The recommended MCV4 minimum interval is at least eight (8) weeks between dose one and dose two. If the first dose of MCV4 was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required.
Please submit proof of vaccinations to the clinic as soon as possible!
News from the Counselors
College Credit Plus Fall Intent to Participate:
The fall intent to participate form is now live. This is only for students who missed the April 1st deadline last year. If you already completed the intent to participate last spring, you do not need to complete this again. Students who missed the spring intent to participate, who complete this fall intent will be able to take College Credit Plus classes spring semester 2027. If you have any questions - please have your student reach out to their school counselor! To access the Fall Intent to Participate, use this link.
Baldwin Wallace University Outdoor Summer College Fair
Wednesday, September 2, 2026
6:00-7:30pm
The fair will be located on the walkway directly behind the Durst Welcome Center (115 Tressel Street, Berea, Ohio). This event is rain or shine. You can park in the BW student union on Tressel Street or walk over from BMHS. Take advantage of this opportunity since there are not many college fairs like this in our area!
College representatives will be there from Ohio and many from outside of Ohio to meet with students. The list of participating colleges/universities will be available soon! This is an excellent way to find out about colleges, including what majors they offer and how much they cost. It also gives students a chance to get to know the college representative who sometimes is even the person who admits students.
Seniors will be completing applications by the middle of October, so this is a good chance to learn about some new schools or check out ones you plan to apply to one more time.
Juniors should be taking college visits and going to college fairs to try to have a list of colleges to which they plan to apply before senior year starts.
Registration is now open via StriveScan- attached is a flyer with the QR code students can use to register for the event!
Anyone interested in getting some volunteer hours can show up at 4:30 to help representatives unload and set up. Here is a link to sign-up to volunteer: https://forms.gle/VBqw9yLdSioCYM3p8
Volunteers will then be able to go through the fair. Make sure to sign-in at the registration table with Ms. Zemek to get volunteer hours if you come early.
