PickUp Patrol is the schools preferred method of notifying the school of any attendance changes.
Please make sure you are notifying the school if your student will be absent or tardy. Whenever a student is going to be absent or tardy a parent should notify the school by calling the absent line at (603)845-1556, sending an email by 8:30am to wmsattendance@windhamsd.org or entering it into PickUp Patrol.
If your student will be absent 3 or more days, they will need to come to the office and get an extended absence form. This form needs to be signed by all of your students' teachers, the assistant principal and a parent/guardian.
Only the office can enter an absence as excused, not teachers or administrators. Please make sure you are using the above options to notify us of your students absence.

8TH GRADE PARENT NOTICE
Dear Parents of an 8th grade student,
A parent information meeting regarding the 8th grade health program will be held Wednesday, September 10th, at the completion of the WMS Open House (7:15pm) in the Windham Middle School Cafeteria. The purpose of the meeting is to provide parents with information about the content and focus of our 8th grade Health Curriculum, specifically the Family Life and Sexuality Unit. The meeting also affords you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. This curriculum was approved by the Windham School Board.
Health Education is a Unified Arts class, in which each 8th grade student will participate for one trimester during the school year. Even though your child may not have Health in their first trimester schedule, this will be the only parent informational night.
The Family Life and Sexuality unit will continue to give a strong abstinence message to our students. Parents/guardians have the option of excusing their child from all or any part of the program by signing the WSD Health & Sex Education Exemption/Objectionable Course Material: Opt-Out Form. This form needs to be returned to Mrs. Noel or Mrs. Morrow.
Should you choose to have your child excused from the entire program or any portion of it, please contact Mrs. Helen Noël, Health Education Teacher. An alternative program developed by the excused child’s parent and Mrs. Noël will be planned.
If an opt-out form is not completed, your child will participate in this unit. The link for the form is below.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Noël at hnoel@windhamsd.org.
Sincerely,
Helen J. Noël Health Education Teacher
Brenda Morrow Principal

REMINDERS
Wired headphones are a supply request-- students should not be using Airpods or wireless headphones throughout the school day.
Beginning in the 2025 school year, New Hampshire has enacted a statewide “bell-to-bell” ban on student cell phone use from the first instructional bell to dismissal, except in very limited cases.
Although this is a new statewide policy, the Windham School District already had a cell phone, smart watch, tablets, or personal laptop policy in place for students in grades K–8. For our students, this will not be a change. Cell phones are expected to remain off and stored in student lockers for the entire school day.
We ask parents and guardians to please remind your child of this expectation so we can continue supporting a focused, distraction-free learning environment.
