Welcome to March, VCA Families! Spring is near, and I’m sure you are as ready as I am for some warmer weather. Excitement is also in the air as enrollment has officially opened for next year! While I find myself torn between finishing this year strong and looking ahead with anticipation, it is a joy to see our community grow.

Vision & Planning for 2026-27 Our leadership team has been planning and praying for the 2026-27 school year for several months now. We are eager to see what God does through our efforts to make VCA education the best it can be.

To share our vision, goals, and a few necessary updates, we will be hosting two Parent Vision Meetings. We want to ensure every family understands our priorities and how they align with VCA’s mission and core values.

Meeting Details

  • 7th–12th Grade Parents: Monday, March 9th

  • K–6th Grade Parents: Monday, March 16th

  • Time: 6:30 PM (Promptly)

  • Location: North Campus Gym

What to Expect The presentation will last approximately 40 minutes. Afterward, we will transition into a special time of prayer. Each leadership team member will host a prayer station around the gym. We ask that you stay and join one of these groups as we seek God’s guidance and blessing for the coming year.

Note: Hard copies of the 2026-27 school calendar and the presentation slides will be provided to all families in attendance.

As we watch the new life of spring begin to bloom, I am reminded that God is also cultivating something fresh and exciting for our students. Just as the season changes, we look forward with anticipation to the 'new growth' God has in store for VCA next year.

Please join us as we pray over these plans and seek His blessing for the 2026-27 school year. We can't wait to see what He brings to life!

We are in need of Kleenex and Clorox wipes at our North Campus and South Campus. If you would like to donate, you can drop them off at the office or send them with your child.

Also, another round of sickness is here and handwashing is our best defense along with drinking water, eating healthy and plenty of rest.

Guidance Corner Guidance Corner

SAT Spring Day has been rescheduled to March 10th at 8am for all Juniors and any Seniors graduating early due to platform issues on the state level. The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized digital exam designed by the College Board to measure a student’s readiness for college and career training. The test follows a computer-adaptive format, meaning the difficulty of questions in the second half of each section adjusts based on your performance in the first. It consists of two primary sections: Reading and Writing, which evaluates comprehension and standard English conventions, and Math, which covers algebra, problem-solving, and data analysis using an integrated Desmos calculator. In Indiana, the SAT serves as the official high school accountability assessment, with all 11th-grade students required to take it during a statewide testing window at their school.

Scholarship opportunities are being sent out bi-weekly to Seniors and their parents. Please make sure to check your emails. Please make sure to check out the Rotary Scholarships that were just emailed this week. The main two platforms our students have had success with are Going Merry and Scholarships. Happy applying!

The FAFSA is open and ALL seniors will need to complete it before March 15th. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a free online application used to determine a student's eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid for college or career school. It provides information on a student's financial situation to calculate eligibility for financial aid, which can include grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and federal student loans. Completing the FAFSA is crucial for accessing the largest source of financial aid and is required by many states and colleges to award their own financial aid packages. The state of Indiana requires all graduating seniors to complete the FAFSA.

March Meeting Update

The Board of Directors will not hold its regular March meeting (previously scheduled for March 16). Instead, the Board will be partnering with VCA Administration to host several Vision Events for families:

  • March 9 at 6:30 PM – Parent Meeting (Grades 7–12)

  • March 16 at 6:30 PM – Parent Meeting (Grades K–6)

  • April 6 at 6:00 PM – Board Town Hall

The Board Town Hall will be an opportunity for the Board to share its strategic plan and answer questions from families. We hope you will join us.

While there is no formal March board meeting, board committees continue meeting and making progress on several important initiatives.

Facilities Committee
Work continues on plans to upgrade the North Campus septic system and build an 8-classroom, two-story addition to support VCA’s growing enrollment.

  • The foundation release permit application has been submitted to the state.

  • Survey field work has been completed and the project is on schedule to submit for Porter County review in April.

  • Facility plans are expected to go out for formal bids in mid-March.

Health Care & Benefits Committee
To support our teachers and staff, VCA plans to introduce a new flexible health benefit option (ICHRA) beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This program will allow eligible teachers to choose the health plan that best fits their needs. Staff attended an introductory meeting on March 4, and additional guidance will be provided in the coming months.

Finance Committee

  • Financial statements through December 31, 2025 have been reviewed with no significant variances from the budget.

  • Work has begun on the 2026–2027 school year budget.

  • The school’s annual line of credit has been successfully renewed.

Policy Review Committee
The committee is working with Mrs. Smith to review and update school policies and handbooks for the upcoming year, with the goal of presenting updates for board approval by June 2026.

Governance & Personnel Committees
These committees continue to support board development, strategic planning, and the Head of School evaluation process.

Upcoming Dates:

April 6 – Board Town Hall
6:00 PM | North Campus Gymnasium

April 16 – Next Board Meeting
6:30 PM | North Campus Science Lab

Families can visit the Board page on the VCA website for prayer requests, updates, and additional information.

There is something truly special about the energy in our hallways as we head into March. Between the glimpses of sunshine and the "spring" in our students' steps, the sense of renewal is everywhere. It is a wonderful time to be part of the VCA community!

This month, we are launching a brand-new Chapel series centered on the Parables of Jesus. These "earthly stories with heavenly meanings" are the perfect way for our elementary students to connect deep spiritual truths with their everyday lives.

Over the coming weeks, we will explore:

  • The Sower and the Seed: Learning how to prepare our hearts to hear and act on God's word.

  • The Lost Sheep: Understanding the immense value God places on every single one of us.

  • The Prodigal Son: Discovering the depth of God’s unconditional love and the joy of a second chance.

Parent Tip: Ask your child on Wednesday afternoons, "What was the 'hidden meaning' in the story you heard today?" It’s a great way to bridge the gap between school and home.

Spring Reminders

  • Layer Up: Spring mornings are often chilly even if the afternoons are warm. Please send your child with a light jacket or sweater for morning recess.

  • Attendance: It is important that your child is at school! We have a lot of learning left to do this year. Every day is important!

  • Spring Break: A reminder that school will be closed from March 23 - 27 for our Spring Break. We hope this is a time of rest and rejuvenation for your family.

Spring reminds us that growth is often a quiet, steady process. Whether it’s a student finally mastering a math concept or showing a new level of kindness to a peer, we see "new life" blooming in our classrooms every day. Thank you for the privilege of partnering with you in your child’s education and spiritual journey.
