Fall is officially here, and weβre enjoying cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and all the fun that comes with the season!
As the weather changes, please remember to send your child with a jacket or sweatshirt. Our Lost & Found is already growing, so please label coats, sweatshirts, and other belongings with your childβs name and also remind them to frequently check the lost and found.
We also want to remind families that every school day counts! Regular attendance helps students stay on track with their learning and keeps them connected to all the fun happening in the classroom. We understand illness happens, just remember to send a note in once they return to school.
We have lots of exciting things happening in October, so be sure to check out the rest of the newsletter for important dates, reminders, and upcoming activities.

Trip Forms Update
Educational trips can be a valuable way of learning. We wanted to share an update we have made to our attendance policy on Trip Forms.
- Students may use up to 8 days per school year for educational trips.
- Please try and submit absence forms 7 days in advance so we can review and approve them prior to the absence. We also let all of the students teachers know, so they can gather work that may be missed.
- Per school policy, Trip forms submitted after the absence occurs will not be excused.
- Trips during the first 10 days of school and last 10 days of school will be unexcused absences.
- Forms are accessible in the Office, on the school website, or through Skyward.
September Garden UpdateπΌ
By:Elizabeth Hiller
Hello families,
Over the 4th grade school year we will tell you about our garden activities each month!
This month we harvested apples and cucumbers that we served in the cafeteria for the whole school. We also saw monarch caterpillars turn into a chrysalis and then turn into butterflies. Some of the 4th graders got to hold one of the newly hatched butterflies. We did lots of work on the raised garden beds. We weeded the beds to plant spinach, carrots, radishes, peas, and dill. Unfortunately a groundhog ate the peas. We also talked to Mr. Matthews about our garden. We weeded the flower beds and picked flowers for some of the teachers. Our pumpkins are huge. We can't wait to pick them. We also redid the path in the garden. At our recess time there were some 4th graders who helped in our garden.
Please come to garden night on Thursday October 8th at 5:30 to watch the Bee movie and to do some amazing crafts. We canβt wait for you to see all that we have done!
We hope you enjoy hearing about our garden. We canβt wait to tell you more next month.

Please see the attachment for how to log on to the portal to view your childs lunch balance and purchases.
PIN number remains the same and any balance on your account from the 25-26 School year has rolled over for the 26-27 School year.
Reminder that money needs to be on your account to purchase lunch.
You can set up an auto-generated payment through SchoolCafe to replenish your account when it gets low. You decide what amount. Example - $20 on account and $20 auto-replenish when it gets to $5.00.
Visiting for Lunch
We welcome parents and guardians to join their child for lunch during the school year.
To help us prepare for visitors and maintain a safe and orderly lunch environment, all lunch visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by completing the Lunch Visitor Request Form (linked below).
Visitors must check in at the main office upon arrival and obtain a visitor's badge before proceeding to the cafeteria.
To ensure consistency and avoid concerns related to food allergies, student requests, and equity among students, outside meals purchased from restaurants or other food establishments may not be brought into the cafeteria for a lunch visit.
Visitors are welcome to enjoy the school lunch with their child and may purchase a school meal at the current district lunch price.
School Nurse
October is peak flu shot season, unfortunately our Health Hero program is not taking place again this year. Most pharmacies offer the flu shot as does your family doctor. Flu shots take about two weeks to provide protection, so be sure to make that appointment sooner rather than later.
The difference between the flu and a cold:
Cold symptoms: gradual onset, runny nose, mild fatigue.
Flu symptoms: sudden onset, body aches, high fever, significant fatigue.
Any child with a temperature over 100 needs to stay home until they are fever free (without medication keeping it down) for 24 hours.
Attention families, the Family First health Mobile Dentists will be here on Oct.
28th to provide dental exams, x-rays, cleanings and fluoride treatments.
Information has been sent out on PeachJar, Blackboard, the district website and
social media. All that you need to do is scan the QR code and the form goes
directly to the dental team at Family First. They will determine based on insurance
and timing of the last dental exam if your child qualifies to be seen.
As always please reach out with any questions or concerns and please keep us
informed of any changes to your childβs health.
Stay healthy,
Mrs. Weikert RN

Intro to Gama:
The Gettysburg Area Music Association (GAMA) is the parent-teacher organization focused on raising funds and providing support for our music programs in the school district. GAMA serves all ensembles at all grade levels.
