Wiggin Street Parent Update

Dear families,

We are starting to think about next school year with returning open enrollment and Kindergarten registration scheduling in process. We love our Wiggin Street Kids! There is more information below.

Save the Date! Our 5th Grade Battle of the Books Team is preparing for their competition on March 18th at 6:00 pm at the MVNU Chapel. This is a great opportunity for 4th grade students that are interested in participating to learn more about the competition.

We completed our Read-a-Thon Rewards this week. Thank you to all that participated and donated! Our school is so lucky to have such wonderful community support, and our students directly benefit from this fundraiser as seen by our Literacy Night.

Thank you to our top fundraisers! Matilda Sulzer was our top fundraiser with Sloane Wright in 2nd place and Elena Suazo Faber in 3rd. They received a prize pack today that included a make your own comic book like Wes Molebash, sketch pad, pencils, twistable colored pencils, book light, book "gummy" worms, Nerds & Reading Rainbow Skittles.

Our Kindle raffle winners were Harper Black, Atticus Koller, and Charlotte Pickens. We are so excited for you! Congratulations!

The Kenyon College Players performed a skit based on the Caldecott Honor book from Mo Willems, Knuffle Bunny, about a toddler named Trixie who loses her favorite stuffed animal.

Our Kindergarten and first graders continued learning to ride Razor scooters this week with Mr. Evans in gym class. Students will receive 5-6 lessons on scooters and then will begin learning to ride bikes through the All Kids Bike curriculum. Thanks to the generous support of our local United Way, we have a class set of bikes available for the students to use.

Mrs. Kramp's 4-H Club id K-9 Companions 4-H Club. It's been around for over 35 years. Mrs. Kramp actually went through the dog club many years ago from 3rd grade through high school and eventually became advisor for the club that her mom helped start. Club members can take a wide range of projects from basic obedience to showmanship, agility, and much more.

If your child is interested in 4-H, please reach out to the OSU Extension Office at 740-397-0401. Registration is due by March 15, 2025.

Continuing Open Enrollment is for students who are currently Open Enrolled to Mount Vernon School District and desire to continue open enrollment with the District for the 2025-2026 school year.

• Complete your application through the Parent Portal on the District website.
• Instructions for Continuing Open Enrollment are located on the Parent Resources Page.
• Continuing Open Enrolled opens March 1, students will have until April 10 to complete this process.

If your address has changed since your last application, please update your child's emergency medical form in the Parent Portal on the District website and you will also need to provide proof of residency.

Students grades 3-5 will be taking the Ohio State Tests mid to end of April. Detailed dates will come out next week. Please make sure that all appointments are scheduled around these dates as it is difficult to get all makeups done with lots of absences.
