CCA's February Character Trait: Goodness

The February character trait of the month at CCA is goodness. I asked three students what goodness means to them. Isai from 5th grade said, “It’s about being kind, doing stuff for others and being helpful.” Deacon from 2nd grade said, “It means someone being kind to you.” Cole from 1st grade said, “It means being kind to someone.” Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Devotion Corner

Parents, Grandparents, and Staff, we thought you might like this devotion from “Proverbs 31 Ministries: Remembering God’s Goodness so You don’t have to be afraid,” which is based off of the Bible verse Isaiah 41:13, “For I the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’”

CCA Birthdays

CCA Chapel ⛪

Chapel on Friday, Feb. 14th, was opened with 6th grade leading students and staff in the pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible before saying a prayer. Pastor Marshall Trisler from the Nazarene church in Clinton brought the message. He asked for some volunteers: Asher, Seth, Lily, Micah, Isai, Jase, and Maya all went forward. They were each given a rubber band and told to shoot it as far as they could across the gym. Galatians 5:22-23 says, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Pastor Trisler talked about the choices we have, participating with God or fighting against Him. If we spend our lives fighting Him we won't get far in life. We need faith to follow Him. He gave examples of people in the Bible who had faith. Abraham had faith that God would give him a child, David had faith when he was king of Israel, and Joseph had faith when he was put in jail. We need to trust in God's plan more than what people have to say. If we learn to trust, walk, and talk with God then we can go really far in life. Those in attendance were challenged to learn to listen to Jesus a little better than they did yesterday, because when you do, you will find yourself loving Him more and more and striving to be more like Him. Pastor closed with a prayer and 6th led the school song. --Kynlee

Chapel on Friday, February 21st, was opened by the worship team who led us in singing. The K5 class then led us in pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible. Mogan prayed and Mr. Campos brought the message. He talked about his recent mission trip to Asia. He showed students photos of the Buddhist and Hindu places of worship and talked about how they write prayers on flags and hang them up. Mr. Campos also told us how important it was to make sure the windows were locked at the mission house they were staying in because monkeys can get in. One interesting fact he told us was, locals with sling shots could be found in crowded areas; they were there to shoot the monkeys who took belongings of bystanders and people vacationing. --Lilly

This week Kynlee surveyed 100 CCA students and teachers to find out if they would rather eat chocolate or gummies? While gummies received 40 votes, chocolate was the clear winner with 60 votes. Fun fact about chocolate is that it can improve your mood and reduce stress. --Kynlee

Class Spotlight: HS Spanish I Class Spotlight: HS Spanish I

Kynlee observed the HS Spanish I class this week to find out what they are currently learning. Students were saying a Bible verse when she entered the room. Next, they took turns saying days of the week and describing the weather. Mrs. Ramirez talked about bullfighting and students answered questions. She asked if they would ever want to go to a bull fight? Mrs. Ramirez highlighted information that will be on the test they will have on Friday.

Students then learned how to write and say having ownership of something in Spanish and they completed a worksheet. Next, they practiced saying some sentences about ownership, while Mrs. Ramirez observed them. Finally, Mrs. Ramirez read about Felipe VI, the king of Spain. Students then took turns reading sentences on a worksheet.
