CONDUCT:
Science Hill High School will seek to conduct a dignified and inclusive graduation ceremony. Many people are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make graduation a special occasion for you and your family. We are extremely proud of all that you have accomplished during your time at Science Hill, and we hope that each of you is willing to demonstrate the high standards of behavior that identify you as a Science Hill High School senior. It is certainly our desire that every one of you participate in a positive way toward making this a safe and meaningful ceremony.
Because graduation is such an important event for you, your family, this school, and this community, we expect your behavior during the ceremony to reflect your maturity as seniors and your awareness of the dignity of this occasion. Please note that diplomas are not received as students walk across the stage – only a Diploma Cover. Diplomas will be picked up in the Freedom Hall Auxiliary Gym after the graduation ceremony. Any action by any senior that distracts from the graduation ceremony, interferes with a classmate’s individual recognition, or disrupts the graduation ceremony as inappropriate and unacceptable may result in withholding the diploma and final transcripts and may lead to removal from the ceremony. Noisemakers are inappropriate and not permitted.
DRESS CODE:
The proper attire for graduation is a Science Hill Custom Cap & Gown purchased from Jostens and business-casual. It is requested that gentlemen wear shirts with collars, ties, dark or khaki pants, dark shoes and socks. Ladies are requested to wear a dress or slacks and shirt and dress shoes. Please choose your shoes wisely as you will be walking up and down steps. Only school-issued regalia (cords, stoles, medallions, etc.) is allowed.
DECORATING GRADUATION CAPS:
Seniors may decorate their graduation caps to celebrate their achievements and future aspirations. All decorations must adhere to the school's content policies, ensuring they are appropriate and respectful. Decorations must remain flat on the cap’s surface, without extending over the edges or protruding excessively. Designs should not cause distractions during the ceremony. Caps that do not meet these guidelines may require modification or replacement.
CLEAR BAG POLICY
As per Freedom Hall's security policy, all bags larger than a small purse or clutch (4.5 inches x 6.5 inches) must be clear and may not be larger than 12 inches x 12 inches x 6 inches.
