Dear York High School Families,
We have had a fantastic Spirit Week so far! It is always wonderful to see our students and staff show their Wildcat pride by dressing up throughout the week.

◦ Block 1 - 7:50-8:45
◦ Block 2 - 8:50-9:45
◦ Block 4 - 9:50-10:45
◦ Block 3 (Lunch) - 10:50-12:30
◦ Pride - 12:30-12:35
◦ Spirit Activities - 12:40-1:10
◦ Assembly (Gym) 1:15-2:05
Note: Students with approved early dismissal during Block 4 should report to the Library.
We will cap off Spirit Week with the Homecoming Dance tomorrow night and our home games on Saturday.

Homecoming Dance! Friday, Oct. 16, 7:00-9:00pm
We are looking forward to having our Homecoming Dance on Friday, October 16. Students will not be allowed admittance to the dance after 7:30
We have partnered with YORKWISE and the York Police Department to help foster a healthy and safe Homecoming, and will be having all students and guests entering the dance take a breathalyzer test. Mrs. Monaco and Mr. Hodsdon will be administering the tests. If students do not pass, then parents will be called to pick up their student. If students refuse to take the test, they will not be allowed admittance to the dance, and parents will be called to pick them up. If parents have any questions regarding this decision, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Hodsdon

Science
Earlier this month, York High School’s Marine Biology class stepped out of the classroom and onto the shore of Harbor Beach for an unforgettable field day, thanks to an exciting partnership with White Pine Programs, a local non-profit dedicated to connecting people of all ages to the natural world through immersive, outdoor education.
Guided by White Pine’s naturalists, students plunged headfirst into the rocky intertidal zone, peeling back heavy mats of rockweed and exploring hidden tide pools. Rather than just reading about marine ecosystems in a textbook, students got their hands wet discovering the incredible diversity living right in our backyard—from crabs and mussels to sea stars, delicate algae, and fascinating organisms they'd never seen before.
The highlight of the day? A truly wild culinary moment: capping off their exploration by sampling hand-foraged Periwinkle “Escargot!”

College, University & Military Rep Visits at York High School
We are excited to share that representatives from a wide range of colleges, universities, and military branches will be visiting York High School over the coming weeks! This is a fantastic, low-pressure opportunity for juniors and seniors to meet directly with admissions officers and recruiters, ask questions, and explore future pathways.
Who it’s for: Juniors and Seniors
Format: 30-minute small group sessions with the representative and interested peers
Visiting Schools & Branches Include: UMaine, Boston University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Merrimack College, Providence College, Yale University, the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines... and many, many more!
How to sign up: Students must reserve their spot in advance through Naviance by clicking the "what's new" window on the Naviance homepage.
Encourage your student to check Naviance regularly as new institutions and representatives are added to the schedule!
The Student Resource Hub
We have also created a new Student Resource Hub bookmark to make it easier for students to access important digital forms and resources. The Hub includes forms that were previously located in the Front Office Documents folder, including:
- Late Arrival/Early Dismissal Form
- Dance Guest Form
- Extended Absence Form
- And other commonly used student forms and resources
We encourage students to familiarize themselves with the Student Resource Hub, which will provide a convenient, centralized location for accessing these forms throughout the school year.
School Breakfast & Lunch
School meals continue to be available to all students at no charge again this year, regardless of household income. Students are eligible for one breakfast and one lunch. Student lunch schedules will be based on the classes they are in for block 3. Teachers will share lunch information with students on the first day of school.
