Hi,
Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Multicultural and literacy celebration last night! It was very nice to be in community with you all! we plan to grow that each year and have it be a great experience for our students each year! Plan for next spring to have another great event with even more food, learning, and activities!
The weather is warming up so please make sure to have an extra set of shorts/short sleeved shirts packed for your students! Kids often wear warmer stuff in the chilly morning but by lunchtime it is pretty warm outside and even pretty warm in the building. Having a spare set of summer weather clothing is helpful!
We are finishing up our state standardized testing for 3-5 grades and wrapping up end of the year assessments for everyone! Lots of testing for students so please help them do their best by making sure they get lots of sleep and a hearty breakfast or a plan to eat at school to make sure their bellies are full and ready to go for the day!
Lots of fun things coming up as the year winds down- field trips, field day, and extra special treats and events in the classrooms!
Library books!
For the month of May library books must be returned on Tuesdays due to testing.

Free, 5-day swim and water safety lessons this Summer, starting August 24th. These programs are designed for families who may face financial, cultural, or systemic barriers to traditional aquatics programs.
Program Details:
📅 Dates: Monday, August 24th to Friday, August 28th at 9am, 10 am or 11am.
📍 Location: Wedgwood Swim Club - 7727 28th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115
👶 Ages: 3–15 years old
PTA events and news!
Last weekend to Dragon Hunt!
Tracking forms and any donations are due back at school on Monday, May 18th. Please make sure your kid’s name is written clearly on either the tracking sheet or the envelope so that they can receive a special $5 dragon dollar, and might win an additional prize. Who, and what class will find the most dragons? Happy hunting!
SAVE THE DATE - Wednesday June 10th is the last PTA meeting of the year!
We will welcome new GLES families with ice cream in the garden, followed by our last PTA meeting of the year. If you’ve been putting off coming, this is the one to attend - we will be voting on the 26/27 budget and board members. More details to come.
